Mission: To act as a non-profit Citizen Support Organization assisting in conserving the natural, cultural scenic and recreational resources of Claytor Lake State Park; to assist in providing a variety of recreational and educational opportunities, and to assist in promoting environmental stewardship. Claytor Lake State Park Ambassadors will strive to see that Claytor Lake State Park facilities remain, at or are improved to, ideal standards and that funding is made available for projects and programs that benefit patrons, all while conserving the natural environment of the park.
Results: Funded and installed an accessible fishing platform located at the park’s Marina in 2017. Ambassadors provided the park with engineered wood fiber chips for the park’s two playgrounds. Ambassadors provided the park with two digital signs located at the Park Office and at the Water’s Edge Meeting Facility/Gift Shop. Ambassadors lend a hand for several of the park’s special events such as the Obstacle Course Race, Triathlon, and the Summer Festival. The Ambassadors also help set up, staff, and operate the park’s Haunted House in the fall. Hired a contractor to make Wedding Gazebo repairs. Ambassadors will be providing the park with a mobile stage trailer to use for live music, special events, and educational programming. The current trailer is only bare bones and metal framing. Donations to finish and finalize the trailer are desired.
