Causes: Christianity, Religion
Mission: To change lives in kenya through the gospel of jesus christ with a holistic approach to children, families, and communtities.
Programs: Sponsorship - the sponsorship program of children costs 35 per month. Sponsored children write to their sponsors three times throughout the year. Sponsors receive monthly newsletters along with quarterly letters educating them about the program and events in kenya that affect the life of their sponsored child. Kenyan staff follows up with the children on a regular basis to insure that they are doing well and that their home environment is safe. We currently have 591 students, 12 enrolled in trade school and 18 post secondary students. Widow's might - due to the polygamous culture, widows make up a large percentage of the communities that we work in. Lack of education and any job skills leave them vulnerable, at risk and unable to support their children physically or with their education. Sponsorship of a widow costs 65 a month and gives monthly food assistance, covers the cost of five female goats within the first year and gives them job training along with classes in literacy and bible instruction. We currently have 12 women in the program.
construction and building - we embarked on a rigorous building program this year: at oloolii, a new kitchen, preschool building and toilets were built, along with maintenance done to gutters, windows replaced and repaired and new water tanks installed. Orkarkar saw a classroom addition added, new toilets and a triplex teacher housing unit was constructed as well.
family help services - we offer a family food assistance program which gives food to 72 needy families. Each family receives food staples to help supplement their food supply on a monthly basis. A goat program, called kids for kids, is aimed at helping families economically by providing them with a female goat. A goat helps them start their own herd as well as providing the family a daily supply of milk.
