Programs: In 2017, the second largest program area was water monitoring, which encompasses our urban stream monitoring as well as river and lake water quality testing. Through our neighborhood water watch program we tested and analyzed 4,961 water samples and identified and stopped 15 major sewer spills. We also collected and processed 73 lake samples for nutrient levels, and 141 river samples for bacteria pollution in the chattahoochee river national recreation area. in 2017, the largest program area was community outreach and stewardship projects, which includes our outings, festivals, trash cleanups, rain barrel workshops and more. We mobilized 1,216 volunteers to remove 27 tons of trash and tires from the watershed, recycling 3. 4 tons. In addition, we engage 665 people on the water for a paddling experience to see firsthand the river resource. Hundreds more attended our river, film and music festivals to celebrate the river and inspire environmental stewardship. Additionally, we distributed 960 rain barrels many having accompanied a work shop to learn about water supply and water conservation themes. We also trained 15 interns through the course of the year.

in 2017, the third largest program area is the crk floating classroom program, which includes the lake lanier and west point lake programs. The floating classrooms educate students on board our vessels about watershed pollution, conservation, science and more. In 2017, 10,203 students and teachers participated in the floating classroom programs. Nearly half of that number participated via a scholarship program.
