Priority for this program goes to homes with senior citizens, families with disabilities, children under the age of 6, and households with high energy usage and energy burdens. During 2014, a total of 79 families were served.
through the use of the community services block grant, the charleston county human services commission helps reduce poverty to residents of charleston, berkeley, and dorchester counties. The commission provided over 5,720 pounds of food to homebound individuals in need in the community. They also prevented eviction or foreclosures of more than 100 families. In total, 1,879 families were served during 2014.
