I love being a volunteer educator with the Center for Positive Sexuality. It's incredibly validating and illuminating speaking to students and professionals about a variety of sex, gender, and relationship identities, dispelling myths, replacing those with facts, research, and real, lived experiences. Our work is necessary.

The work of this organization is invaluable and I'm always amazed how far they are able to spread donations and the transparency of their work. I highly recommend them as an organization to support.

CPS is the only grass-roots and professionally run international organization focused on healthy, positive sexuality for all people, regardless of personal background or diversity.
They're 8 Dimensions of Healthy Sexuality has begun making the rounds nationally and I believe will become a foundation for how sexuality is viewed by the public in the future.

I first met the founders at a conference where they approached me with open arms about some controversial work I was presenting, when I had professional concern about how it would be accepted. They not only assured me, but have since provided me encouragement and a place to grow my thoughts to assist survivors of sexual assault who experience what are considered by mainstream providers to be non-standard reactions.

Through their support, I've been able to support and treat a wide range of survivors of sexual assault and promote better positive sexuality practices.

Their panels are amazing. My students are always engaged, their reflections on what new thing they learned are insightful, and the safe space that the presenters create make my shy students talk in class. My favorite part is when my students describe how they have a new appreciation, understanding, or viewpoint as a result of the presentation.
Every semester I am honored to book 1 panel for each class.

I met Emily Prior, the Founder and Executive Director of CPS, while volunteer teaching sex ed at Planned Parenthood. We kept in touch and when she formed the Center for Positive Sexuality, I began to give financial support. Three years ago, she was kind enough to ask me to join the board and am currently Treasurer. Several things drew me to get involved in the Center's work and to become more involved over the years. I'm impressed by the dedication of the volunteer educators who are invited into colleges across Southern California and beyond to spread a message of understanding and acceptance about different sexual lifestyles and practices. I actively read and learn from the Journal of Positive Sexuality, a peer-reviewed, open access, online, scholarly journal funded and published by the Center. Philosophically, I am drawn to their mission to spread the ethic of consent practiced by the kink community beyond that group and into the general population.

I support CPS because they are inclusive and education-based, with an emphasis on destigmatization of sexual variances, and are consent-oriented. Everyone deserves to have great sex! CPS emphasizes this as well!

I donate my time and my money to the Center for Positive Sexuality, because they are committed to educating the public about human sexuality in a way that does not demonize or pathologize people. They center the voices of sex workers, LGBTQ, and people in alternate lifestyles. They seek to empower those living on the sexual fringes, rather than attempting to act as saviors.
I love volunteering with CPS in order to help humanize other queer sex workers like me. When I go into the classroom, I can really see that most of the students have never spoken to someone "like me" and that I am demystifying this taboo subject for them. The work I do at CPS exists to bridge that gap and create a more educated and accepting public.

About four years ago I realized I wanted to become a sex educator to help people feel comfortable talking about sex. I didn’t want to rack up more student loans so I thought I might volunteer and perhaps learn from other sex educators. I googled the term “Sex Positive” and the Center for Positive Sexuality was in the search results. I felt so lucky to find a group in my neighborhood providing sex education on topics usually considered taboo like sex & aging and poly-amorous relationships. After speaking with Director Emily Prior I decided to volunteer with the Center. That was over 3 years ago and I can say that I’ve learned more working with the Center than I would have from any class. We have a diverse group of people who are honest and authentic talking about their sex lives which has taught me to be more open-minded & accepting of ALL people. I see our organization making a huge impact on sex education not only locally, but globally. Each year we continue to attract a wide array of talented professors, researchers and volunteers to our organization. I couldn’t be more proud to be part of the Center for Positive Sexuality & look forward to changing the world with them!

I work with this organization because I get to see how students, faculty, and other professionals have the opportunity to have their preconceived notions about sexuality blown apart and change their perspective into a more sex positive. I love that the center also has a highly academic side and promotes research to help people all across the world change their perspectives through the Journal of Positive Sexuality.

I work with this organization and I get all the data from our surveys. The students and teachers we present for absolutely love us! We have at least 20 panel presentations every year. It may not seem like much, but if you figure at least 30 students per class. That's at least 600 people reached a year.
