Programs: Madison homelessness initiative:the madison homelessness initiative primary focus in 2014 was again on project bubbles, providing free self service volunteer facilitated laundry service to people living homelessness. Fifteen volunteers participated over the year to provide consistent coverage for the twice weekly four hour program in an accessible public downtown laundromat. Yearly expenses for washer/dryer machine use and supplies supported the 4052 visits that were made. Private funding sources were complimented by funds from the city of madison and the rotary club of madison.
core:in four different programs, core brings people together to build strength, courage and creativity in service of a just, peaceful, sustainable world. The programs include: match for change -- 3 nonprofit programs worked with consultants they had been matched with in the previous year and received grants ranging from $500 to $3,700 to implement capacity building plans. Six new nonprofit programs, 18 consultants and 20 volunteers participated in a new round of matchmaking between consultants and organizations. Core action cafe -- core facilitated four of these community conversations that involved approximately 75 unique participants. Consultants' circle -- core hosted 11 of these connection enhancing and capacity building events that involved approximately 70 unique participantsfunder gatherings -- core hosted two gatherings of funders to explore funders' experiences, roles and vision around supporting organizational capacity building with approximately 22 unique participants.
occupy madison:in the spring of 2014 occupy madison, inc. Purchased property for a tiny home village for unhoused people. During the summer of 2014 volunteers with the help of contractors renovated the community building, build gardens, retail store, and prepared the site to accommodate the first three tiny homes. In the fall of 2014 formerly unhoused people moved into the village. When complete the village will house up to 12 people.
