Mission: The cat's meow is dedicated to reducing the number of homeless cats on fidalgo and guemes islands by providing proactive and effective animal welfare services for cats.
Programs: In 2016, the cat's meow admitted 127 cats and kittens and placed 94 cats and kittens in new homes. In addition, 7 cats were returned to their owners, 4 kittens were transferred to other organizations for adoption, 10 cats were euthanized or died due to terminal medical conditions and 9 feral cats were released into managed feral colonies. All cats and kittens adopted from the cat's meow are spayed or neutered and microchipped prior to adoption.
the cat's meow continues to manage several feral cat colonies within our city limits. Colony populations have been stable for several years. Feral cats are provided with shelter, fresh food and water daily and medical care when needed.
the cat's meow operates a thrift shop, thrifty kitty. All proceeds support the organization's mission.
the cat's meow operates a free spay/neuter clinic for cats owned by residents in our local community. In 2016, we spayed and neutered 26 cats and provided additional medical care for 3 cats.
