Thank goodness for this nonprofit. This information should have been out LONG ago. I am so glad someone has taken the time to get it out. Thank you Catiie's Cause, because of you, I have informed many of my friends of the dangers I have learned through you. I'm sure it has saved a life of those near and dear to me.
Gratitude fills my heart as I write this about my previous organization Catie's Cause, where I had the privilege of serving as a Social/Digital Media Virtual Intern. Reflecting on my journey, I am overwhelmed with appreciation for the invaluable experiences, mentorship, and growth I gained during my time with this incredible team. A special shoutout to my amazing mentor Karen Smith, whose guidance shaped my professional path, and to my colleagues/family Paris Williams, Aparajita Bose, Ranbir KAUR, Kyler, & Isha Rane who made every day a joyous collaboration. Thank you for being the pillars of support and inspiration throughout my internship. Here's to the memories we created and the lessons that will stay with me forever.

Catie's Cause is an incredible non-profit organization, aiming to combat heartache through acetaminophen awareness! Not only does this cause honor a young girl who had so much life to give but also educates the public on the true dangers of acetaminophen.... Due to this strong foundation, I strongly believe Catie's Cause is the best non-profit I have ever come in contact with!
I know many people do not know how dangerous it is to take Tylenol every day. I am glad that I got to know to take a minimum of it and where necessary. Whenever I get a chance will educate my fellow people about it.
I heard about Catie's Cause on LinkedIn and applied immediately as the purpose of this nonprofit aligned perfectly with my personal goals. I met with Karen, the founder, and she told me her story about why she founded this nonprofit and accepted me to the team as someone with a science background (pre-medical track) instead of the usual- relating to marketing or digital media production. Throughout my time here, we as a team met weekly on Zoom calls and shared what we had been up to the previous week. I developed infographics and brochures to outline the risks linked to acetaminophen and similar non-prescription pain relievers when used incorrectly, drawing from published research studies. Karen also aided me in my personal life by being a mentor of sorts in terms of letting me take over the science aspect of this internship, so that I could further my research goals. Overall, this helped me overcome my anxiety with public speaking when giving presentations and refined my summarization skills- especially when it came to creating brochures containing the major risks and alternatives for pediatric acetaminophen usage. I would recommend this internship to anyone without hesitation.
I am truly grateful for the work being done by Catie’s Cause. Its clear that their mission comes from the heart; a light that shines on something that flies under the radar: the risks associated with acetaminophen.
Thank you for not only being informative but putting a human-heartfelt voice to this cause.
Being an intern for Catie’s Cause was such a meaningful experience. I got to support an important mission—building acetaminophen awareness while combatting heartache. Throughout my internship, I learned so much about marketing, from content creation to strategy while raising awareness on such an important topic. Those skills played a big part in helping me land my current role as a Marketing Coordinator.
I highly recommend applying for an internship with Catie's Cause to any college students/recent grads!
Catie was my daughter and I miss her daily. That will never change. But what I do hope is that through our ongoing efforts to educate others we will create change. Whether we are posting to instagram, facebook, Pinterest or LinkedIn, visiting colleges or healthcare providers, providing advice, providing print materials to pharmacies, providing coasters to bars in college towns, or just championing the cause with family and friends, I know we are making a difference. Our goal is always to raise awareness that leads to meaningful change and encourages wellness based practices that minimize the use of acetaminophen based medicines (600+!). Help us by sharing with those you love.
My story is that Catie was my daughter. To lose a child this way is incomprehensible, we really had no idea that Tylenol was so incredibly dangerous and had such a slim margin of error in dosing. Not to mention how it compounds the impact alcohol puts on the liver. I hope in the future we can reach many more so Catie’s memory is honored in an impactful way.
An eye opener. How many times have we been told “take an extra dose of Tylenol”? This is a story that needs to be shared.
Catie's Cause does so much to educate people - especially young people - on acetaminiphen overuse and the dangers of mixing it with alcohol. Their approach is always open, honest, positive and down to earth, and I've seen how receptive young people are to their message based on the way this organization conducts their outreach. It's wonderful to have worked with them at various health and wellness fairs and activities at a local college.
As a senior, it’s become more and more apparent to me how over-the-counter medications can have a dramatic, negative effect on my health. But I never really thought about what the same medications can do to younger people, if the dosage instructions are not followed to the tee. Catie’s Cause really helped to open my eyes about the dangers of over-the-counter drugs and their (accidental) abuse. Especially in young people. Thank You to Catie’s Cause for opening our eyes to these dangers and for helping to get the word out there!

A beautiful young woman that I knew personally was tragically taken from us due to the poison of acetaminophen. The mission of Catie's Cause to build awareness on the use of acetaminophen is extraordinary. Many medications contain acetaminophen and there cannot be ENOUGH awareness on how toxic it can be. I am so very grateful to Catie's Cause and how this awareness will save lives. Thank you!

Catie's Cause opened my eyes to the real problem of Acetaminophen and over the counter pain medications. I never knew about the real harms that can come from using medicine that is marketed to help us with pain. I'm forever grateful for the knowleged that the devoted Catie's Cause team has taught me! I continue to spread this message and raise awareness to any and all who are willing to listen. Thanks Catie's Cause!
My beautiful sister, Catie, tragically passed away due to acetaminophen toxicity. I am incredibly proud of my mother, who has turned this unimaginable loss into a powerful mission. She has worked tirelessly to build a platform from the ground up, spreading awareness and educating others to prevent similar tragedies.
My daughter and Catie were great friends growing up together. This nonprofit is doing such a wonderful job of alerting the public to the dangers of acetaminophen .

I love this cause. I have learned some really valuable information about the dangers of drug interactions. I have passed this information on to SO many people. Thank you for spreading the word
This is a great cause. Unfortunately, very few people know the dangers of OTC medicines like Tylenol. We are led to believe by our doctors and the medical industry that these products are perfectly safe and they are not. Catie’s cause provides accurate and essential information for those looking to make their best, well educated medical decisions.
Catie’s Cause is raising awareness in honor of a very dear person. IMO, an organization like this is the best way to honor someone and they do such a great job at it. AND the subject matter is so important. Since Catie’s Cause has been on my radar, a lot of people in my circle have gained knowledge about acetaminophen they otherwise would not have and lives have likely been saved. I also deeply appreciate their conscientious social media content, consistency, and overall care for the community.
Catie’s Cause is a great resource. I knew Catie personally and I support this important organization created by her family not just as a loving way to honor Catie’s memory but also so others can make informed choices and be spared similar trauma and loss.

I've known of Catie's Cause since it's inception; and am lucky to have known Catie and her family personally; they have turned an unspeakable tragedy into a movement and a potentially life saving one at that. One thinks OTC meds are safe...think again and then PLEASE learn about Catie's Cause because the life you save may be your own or a loved one's. Catie's Cause always shares new and relatable information and they work tirelessly day in and day out to spread their message and I guarantee you, if you take the time to learn about Catie's Cause, you will not only be shocked, but will also learn an abundance of information. Catie’s Cause is a wonderful charity because it tells people about the dangers of Acetaminophen poisoning. It is something that everyone should know about and be aware of in their lives.
I receive newsletters and emails detailing Catie Smith's heart-breaking story. The information I receive is informative as well as surprising. I often believed that over the counter meds were safe. Thanks to Catie's Cause, I know differently. As a result, I read every label to make certain I am knowledgeable and as informed as I can be, before dispensing seemingly harmless meds to my family.
I can't say enough good things about Catie's Cause Inc. Karen Smith started this nonprofit organization to build Acetaminophen awareness while combatting a heart attack. So many children and people are not aware of this, and it results in death. Catie's Cause has been successful in reaching out to the community with personal stories, proven data/studies and other great information to bring awareness. I highly recommend everyone joining this cause and going to Catie's Cause Inc for more information. They are a fantastic nonprofit organization.
Caties Cause is a beautiful tribute to an amazing young lady who left this earth way too soon. This cause was created out of heartbreak, sadness, determination, love and hope. Hope that one or many lives can be saved by the important information that Caties Cause stands for and delivers to its followers. This cause allows Catie’s death to not be in vain. It keeps her memory alive. It gives purpose to the lives of those that loved her so dearly. And it protects the lives of many by educating on the dangers of putting too much acetaminophen into our bodies. I will forever be honored to have known and loved Catie. This non profit means so much to me. It won’t bring Catie back, however it allows something positive to come from a tragedy. Catie lives through all of the lives that Catie’s Cause touches.
Catie’s Cause, Inc is a lifesaver for those who don’t know the deleterious and potentially deadly effects of acetaminophen use/misuse. Education is power and this nonprofit teaches people how to protect themselves from tragedy.

I heard someone say not too long ago that no one would ever imagine this could happen
unfortunately that might be the majority. But it did happen.
Karen lost her beautiful daughter Catie to acetaminophen poisoning and nothing will change that. The pain never leaves but through the pain and suffering came the vision and through the vision comes a change.
The information shared @catiescause regarding acetaminophen/Tylenol toxicity is truly impressive whether it’s covering the dangers, talking wellness, natural alternatives to OTC drugs or educating by posting published medical reports and the like; substantiating facts while disseminating information. Information important for Catie’s generation to know but also for the general public. At 74 I find myself checking the posts at Catie’s Cause several times a week I can always count on learning something new & being grateful. This might be a great spot for a ‘shout out’ to all the Catie’s Cause Interns great job!
The Nonprofit Catie’s Cause is all encompassing and by no means skirts the big picture which is never easy but always satisfying when one chooses to fight the good fight.
Catie’s Cause has grown so fast, has helped so many already no doubt it will continue to help others for years to come.
With Catie's Cause I learned that Tylenol is not as safe as I always thought. Since all doctors prescribe it and is more than safe to take it, I thought side effect would not be bad. But with Catie's Cause I learned so many things about this topic and I feel that more needs to be done with this topic. This organization is unique, helpful and very educational.
Caties Cause is a great organization to be involved in. Knowing that you are helping hundreds of people is very rewarding. The volunteers are wonderful and strive to improve their content everyday. Visit @catiescause on Instagram to learn what it’s all about.
Reading Catie's Cause has given me not only an understanding of how Tylenol can affect me, but more importantly how to better care for my body. Catie's Cause gave me information on other products that also contain Acetaminophen and to be sure to read all labels on over the counter drugs and supplements.
Catie's family suffered an avoidable loss with her passing. And yet, Catie's family is doing a world of good to bring an awareness of what harm Acetaminophen can do.
I was a social media intern for Catie's Cause, and it was my favorite internship. Not only was I able to learn more about social media, but I was researching something meaningful and bringing awareness to such a severe problem as the inappropriate use of Acetaminophen and how damaging it can be to one's life. I was even more drawn in that Karen founded Catie's Cause with her family, and it was super involved. Catie's Cause is a nonprofit that I fully support.
I have had an incredible experience as a volunteer for Catie's Cause. This is an excellent organization that goes far beyond creating awareness about medication safety.
Through social media posts, newsletters, and more, Catie's Cause brings attention to the use of acetaminophen. This is a medication that is seen as harmless by many people when it is actually the cause of more than 500 deaths in the U.S. every year.
By sharing this message, Catie's Cause has a great impact on many people and honors Catie's memory.
This is an outstanding NGO with a dedicated team working daily to combat heartache. So much love and care!
Thank God for Catie's Cause! Its remarkable how many people there are who have NO IDEA about the harm over-the-counter drugs like Tylenol can do. Catie's Cause shines a bright light on this granting people the clarity to make an informed decision whether to take these drugs or not. Thanks again for the work you do!
I always have been hesitant to take any kind of medicine unless it was absolutely necessary. I try to go the natural route whenever possible. Reading peoples stories, especially Catie’s has opened my eyes further to the dangers of Tylenol. With young children, parents are so quick to give their kids Tylenol when they have a fever because we aren’t taught or told that fevers can be ok if they aren’t high. I love the information Catie’s Cause posts and I know they are saving many lives with their important information.
I’m so happy I stumbled across Catie’s Cause. After my husband suffered an accidental Tylenol overdose, ending in a liver transplant, I felt compelled to spread the word about the potential dangers associated with Tylenol’s main ingredient, acetaminophen. Then I found Catie’s Cause and read more and more about how they were already on the same mission. I shared with them our experience and have developed an even deeper appreciation for all that they are doing to get the word out there about the dangers that potentially come with acetaminophen usage. I applaud Catie’s Cause for the wealth of knowledge they provide the general public about what most consider a seemingly benign medication. I will continue to support Catie’s Cause in their ambitious journey to educate individuals in hopes that even just one person may be saved from the same harrowing experience our family went through.
Such a great cause. I told Katie's store to a friend, who passed on to some others. A month or 2 later, a person came back to my friend and said Thank You - you saved a life and didn't even know it. I will keep passing her story on.
I started working at Catie's Cause as an intern. I learned about the side effects of an acetaminophen overdose, which I didn't know before.
I really learned a lot of skills while working.
Catie was a beautiful girl & not a day goes by that I don’t think of her. Since her passing my family is very aware of the dangers of mixing acetaminophen and alcohol. We often share her story to educate the community and bring awareness to Catie’s Cause.
Catie’s Cause was created after the devastating loss of Catie, who lost her life to an acetaminophen overdose. Catie had great passion and zeal for life, her family now uses their platform to further educate the community of the dangerous side effects of taking Tylenol and offers alternative, healthy options to treating pain.
I personally was taking a Tylenol PM every single night, for 6 years, to curb my back pain and get me to sleep through the night. After learning of Catie’s story and the truth about these over the counter meds, I’ve weaned myself completely from my daily use of Tylenol PM. I’m grateful to Catie’s Cause for the awareness and eduction they offer to their followers!
I originally started as an intern for Catie's Cause where I helped create content and worked on social media. I loved it so much that I decided to volunteer for Catie's Cause. I have now been a volunteer for around a year and a half and I find my work with Catie's Cause to be so fulfilling. I have volunteered for other nonprofits before and I love that our work at Catie's Cause is making a true difference and that we are saving lives. The founder of Catie's Cause truly cares about each and every volunteer and intern and that makes the volunteer process so much more rewarding. There are a variety of roles at Catie's Cause that volunteers can take on and I have had the privilege to work on most of them. I have learned so much during my time as a volunteer and I serve a true purpose. I highly recommend people check out Catie's Cause and spread the word about the dangers of acetaminophen and Tylenol poisoning. You too can help save lives!
Catie’s Cause is an amazing organization. I follow them and have learned so much good information about the dangers of acetaminophen. I am grateful for their excellent work.

to me
I love following Catie’s Cause on Instagram, and I share their posts with friends. The facts they provide regarding Acetaminophen poisoning are valuable and should b.e known by all. For example, Tylenol is common…. And alcohol is common… But most people don’t know what serious damage they can do to their liver by ingesting both on the same day. When the things we put into our bodies are so common - and so normalized - we need to be reminded of what really happens when we make that choice. This can be true of many things we ingest . Catie’s Cause is doing good work by being a source of information about their chosen health concern/focus of avoiding Acetaminophen poisoning.
Carie’s Cause is an amazing organization. Bringing to light this very important cause will surely save many lives. I am inspired by the parents of Catie who have turned a difficult personal tragedy into a life mission to save others by bringing to light the dangers of Tylenol use! Bravo! Keep up the good work!!!!
I was hired as a social media intern at Catie’s Cause to fulfill my final credits for my MBA Program. When I discovered this organization and read what it was about, I knew it was something I wanted to be a part of. From the volunteers, interns, and other employees at Catie’s Cause, I had an amazing experience. Everyone was welcoming and worked well together. The founder, Karen Smith, always had a positive attitude and eager to help if you needed anything. She was always open to hear any ideas you had and asked us interns for our opinions rather than only doing things her way. Karen also provided a lot of resources if you needed help brainstorming ideas for social media posts and asked if you were comfortable taking on a task rather than just assigning it to you. During my internship at Catie’s Cause I was working and going to school full time. Karen was very understanding if I couldn’t meet a meeting, had to leave early, or couldn’t meet the required amount of posts a week. I would highly recommend working and/or volunteering at Catie’s Cause if you are interested in a career in Social Media Marketing especially for such a great cause.
Catie's Cause is revealing so many unknown information regarding products available on shelves in some countries, which not controlled usage can have dramatic consequences. So it's key for Catie's Cause to get the visibility it deserves
Catie's Cause has taught me so much about Tylonol and the dangers that are serious, yet unknown to most people. The site is upbeat, with tips such as recipes for delicious mocktails, and other interesting ideas. My main takeaway is that mixing Acetaminophen when drinking alcohol or for a hangover can destroy your liver and can, and does cause death. The site discusses alternatives and remediation for hangovers and other common pain where in the past I would reach for OTC pills without a second thought.I am greatful for this site for spreading awareness to dangers and helping others avoid the heartbreak Catie's family is enduring.
There’s nothing I love more than information that people NEED to read being shared!
Catie’s Cause regularly posts valuable facts about OTC medications that you certainly won’t hear in their commercials.
I appreciate it so much because I don’t like seeing fellow humans suffering unnecessarily!
Catie’s Cause has truly saved and helped so many of my fellow college students and friends become aware of the dangers of acetaminophen overdose. A true godsend of a non profit and one that has helped so many people.
Carie’s Cause is a positive force & the work they are doing is extremely important, helpful, & enlightening!
I know Karen personally & I admire the strength of her and her family!
I have been reading and learning valuable information from the Catie’s Cause posts for the last year and a half. As a retired open heart recovery room nurse and mother of three grown young adults, I have administered many doses of acetaminophen thinking it was 100% safe with no side effects. Now I know differently.
I have gained and shared so much knowledge from reading the posts with friends, family and reposting for my social media friends to read for themselves.
Catie’s Cause is a great nonprofit and successfully educates the public about potentially dangerous situations regarding acetaminophen usage.
