Causes: Human Services
Mission: Support of the Casa de los Pobres in Tijuana, Mexico. Casa de los Pobres USA is a non-profit 501(c) (3) that serves those living in extreme poverty by providing food, water, clothing, medical care, social services, and education for children.
Results: The Franciscan Sisters have been providing for the poor of Tijuana for over 70 years.
Target demographics: The Franciscan Sisters provide food, water, clothing, medical care, to all in need, and education for children.
Direct beneficiaries per year: In 2023, the Sisters served 247,594+ meals; provided 8,410 medical appointments and prescriptions in their clinic; 19,910 bags of groceries; 5,280 Social Service appointments providing guidance, clothes, shoes, blankets, tarps, and hygienic supplies; 30 trips to provide food to the outlying colonias (slums); 309 scholarships for children to attend school, and school supplies for 460 students. In December, at the annual Christmas Distribution, the Sisters provided 1,760 families with a chicken, rice, beans, canned vegetables, fresh fruit, boxed milk, coffee, blankets, shoes, a bag of candy, toothbrushes & toothpaste, and a toy for the children.

Programs: Monetary donations go directly to provide food, water, clothing, medical help, for the those in extreme poverty, and education for children. In addition to monetary donations, in-kind donations are always needed such as canned and dried food items, blankets, tarps, towels, bedding, new shoes & socks, bar soap, unexpired over-the-counter medicines, hygienic supplies, medical supplies such as wheelchairs, walkers, crutches and canes.
