Mission: Carrie's kids believes that all children/teens are created with a purpose. We provide outreach, clubs, groups and events that promote dignity, build social and life skills, nurture potential and instill self-sufficiency to children/teens who are homeless or at risk, in the bismarck-mandan area of north dakota. Carrie's kids served over 2800 children/teens throughout 2014 through the activities and events listed in the program service accomplishments.
Programs: Outreach to children, teens and families in at-risk situations to distribute needed food, school supplies, clothing and personal hygiene items. Short-tem lodging provided to family members in emergency situations.
group meetings held regularly with at-risk teens with boys' and girls' clubs. Increased clubs hosted at elementary schools. Parenting classes were held in overcrowded apartment buildings and homes. Took the future city team to the white house and participated in the science fair. The children/teens and their parents are actively volunteering with carrie's kids to help each other.
hosted caring for kids serving 600 people. The christmas shoppe provided homeless and at-risk children with the opportunity to select gifts at no cost for the people with whom they are currently living. A meal was provided and wrapped gifts (1400) and cookies were given to the children and they were transported back to where they resided.
