A nonprofit is suppose to be transparent. Cape Fear Volunteer Center is far from that. Drop by 214 Walnut Street and ask any member CFVC for to 1.speak to the director, she won't be there, 2. to see their Form 1023, Form 990 and Form 990-T the IRS requires any nonprofit to have readily available to the public, I guarantee you they wont have it, or to speak to any board member, they're virtually non-existent.
Guidestar and the IRS need to audit this organization before the Director embezzles and fraudulently spends even more "charitable" funds.

My experience has been nothing but unbelievably positive. Since it's inception I have been able to contribute to the community in all ways that I have desired. With everyone I have encountered treating me with respect. There is excitement there, and growth. You can birth ideas there. At the present time there is a focus on at-risk-youth, and searching for mentors for them, as well as a placement for interns from local universities.
