Forever, grateful for this organization, and the support it has brought our son who was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma at age 3 and his siblings.
It has continue to provide support and engaging activities through monthly meet ups and camps in the summer.
It was a dark time for our other children during the cancer treatment but CGR created a safe environment for our children to express their grief while having an amazing experience to look forward to every year.
Thank you, Camp Rainbow Gold
Camp Rainbow Gold is an amazing organization that helps kids and families in Idaho who are facing pediatric cancer. Cancer comes at you out of the blue, and Rainbow Gold provides an incredibly welcoming and ready-made community of love and support for the children going through it, their siblings, and their parents. Cancer in a young person impacts everyone in the family and the way Camp Rainbow Gold's programs support the unique needs of each family member makes it truly special. Rainbow Gold hosts regular meet ups for cancer survivors and offers a college scholarship program. Talented professional staff and volunteers put on incredible camps at Hidden Paradise to give parents a chance to connect with each other and kids the chance to enjoy all the fun of a summer camp regardless of whether they're in treatment or in remission. Camp Rainbow Gold is a safe space where everyone can be themselves, and all that matters is the love and support of a community toward families going through a really tough and scary experience. We are so thankful for every way that Camp Rainbow Gold makes our lives better!
A great organization to get behind. This organization is filled with people who love what they do and treat everyone as if they matter which is amazing. Camp Rainbow Gold is necessary when it comes to helping children going through cancer treatments and their families. Support in any way you can and know that the children in this area will be supported through this tough time.
Our experience with this nonprofit was nothing short of lifesaving. That sounds a bit hyperbolic but the joy and hope they brought to our family was a pure ray of sunshine in our darkest time. EVERY single person I've interacted with from camp counselors, to admin, to volunteers was a positive interaction.
These people care and the good they do is a necessity. I could go on all day about my love for this organization. Our child was 7 years old and we got the news that he had a malignant tumor growing from his salivary gland. Camp Rainbow Gold was there the first summer after his surgery and brought positivity and a supportive community of people going through similar situations together.
It was humbling, healing, and it immediately gave our family a light at the end of the tunnel.
I will be forever grateful that they were there to guide us out of that dark place.
Camp Rainbow Gold provides emotionally empowering experiences for children diagnosed with cancer and their families through summer camps, teen support groups, frequent events and adventures, college scholarships and many fun times! In addition to offering incredible services to those diagnosed with cancer. Camp is a well run and efficient organization. It keeps its overhead to a minimum ensuring donations provide maximum benefit to the children.
My first experience with Camp Rainbow Gold (CRG) was in 2008 as a camper. CRG created a safe and welcoming place where I could share my cancer experience with other kids my own age and feel like people understood me. After attending camps for 4 Summers, I received a college scholarship through CRG. This scholarship of $20,000 allowed me to attain my bachelor's degree; without it my family and I would not have been able to afford my tuition fees. As an adult I now participate in Summer camps with CRG as a volunteer. This organization has been a guiding light of brightness in my life for the past 14 years, and I can truly say I would not be the person I am today without the work they do.
Over the years we have seen so many young people get enjoyment added into their lives as they struggle with medical conditions because of all the great things Camp Rainbow Gold does to help them out.
Camp Rainbow Gold is an amazing organization who's efforts have touched the lives of so many far beyond their community. Having had the opportunity to work alongside their team, I have witnessed first hand the dedication and commitment displayed by their members and the devotion to their mission of empowerment. Stay Bold - Rainbow Gold!
Camp Rainbow Gold is an incredible organization that I care so fondly for. As a sibling of someone who had cancer, it was always hard to find friends that were able to relate to what I had been through. CRG was an extremely valuable resource for me to connect with those that know what it’s like to be in a difficult situation, and I’m thankful to have met so many wonderful friends through camp. Camp Rainbow Gold really values it’s campers and families, and it would be my first recommendation for nonprofits to get involved in/donate to in Idaho.
I have partnered with Camp Rainbow Gold as a designer for many years. The cause is one to get behind — childhood cancer and the families that are dealing with this is where help is needed. Camp Rainbow Gold offers important support for these families in need.
I cannot say enough about how organized and effective the organization is. The decision-making and fiscal responsibility are key reasons why the organization is so successful. The people behind Camp Rainbow Gold are paramount to the strength of the organization.
Keep up the great work, CRG!
I heard about this nonprofit organization before and always good things. Until we participated in some of their activities, we realized how wonderful they are.
The energy is amazing, people volunteering their time and taking ownership of everything to help us out and make us feel more comfortable ALL THE TIME. My Daughter, who finished treatment 2 years ago, absolutely loved it! She made new friends and she is even interested in volunteering as well. She is 8 years old.
I had the opportunity to volunteer this weekend. It was a small part compared to everything their team did during our camps. However, I loved being there and I am looking for more opportunities to help out.
Everybody who works and volunteer at Camp Rainbow Gold clearly do so selflessly and perfectly. I can go all day, but basically, Camp Rainbow Gold ROCKS! :-)
Hi I’m Skylar Holloway! I have been involved with Camp Rainbow Gold since I was 8 years old. I was an oncology camper for 10 years and I just recently became a Junior Volunteer! I volunteered this summer as a camp counselor and it was such an amazing experience, and I will definitely do it again. Camp Rainbow Gold is an amazing nonprofit organization and they do so much for kids who have or have had childhood cancer. You will always feel welcome there and it will leave such a huge impact on your life.
I am one of the physicians helping to care for these children and their families, and it has been my great privilege to be able to attend Camp Rainbow Gold every year since 2010. CRG does so many things of value, but I think two are particularly notable. First, it provides a venue where these youth can associate with other peers who have gone, or are going through, similar life-threatening events. Being able to connect with others is such an important part of the social and emotional development of any child. However, it can prove to be particularly difficult for children with a cancer diagnosis, since classmates and neighbor friends will typically have no ability to understand what the survivor has gone through. At camp deep bonds of connection can be safely made, and they are transformative for the campers. Second, camp is a place where the sterile trappings of their treatment environs can be left behind and where limitations seem to no longer exist. I have been amazed again and again when a camper has faced new challenges with courage and innocent confidence. I have seen them accomplish feats that I felt were simply not possible. And the confidence that comes into their being during these watershed moments is nothing short of life changing. If you have an opportunity to be a part of this miraculous organization, whether as a volunteer, or financially, or otherwise, you should count yourself lucky and absolutely jump at it.
Words can't describe the magic of Camp Rainbow Gold, it's one of those things that you have to experience for yourself. I have been volunteering for over 15 years now, and I still find it to be an amazing organization that has continued to grow in a thoughtful and carefully planned way. The best indication of how much good CRG does comes from the excitement, reactions, connections and love that the kids have for camp after they spend a week there. It is an organization that is close to my heart, I wish more people could volunteer and feel the love that is given back to you!
Camp Rainbow Gold is an outstanding organization that provides love and support to children and families battling childhood cancer. The organization enjoys broad community support and is recognized as well-run and committed to Idaho and the families it serves. It has secured a beautiful facility on the edge of the Idaho wilderness that will serve families for generations.
I began my experience at Camp Rainbow Gold as a sibling camper over 13 years ago and have found a way to still be involved after all this time as a volunteer. This organization is such a special place for so many because of the support system it provides. Cancer is an awful disease that impacts so many. Many forget that it's not only the diagnosed patient that goes through this illness but the entire family as well. Camp Rainbow Gold gives people , who feel alone, hope that they will be able to make it to another side with support and resources. As a former camper, I don't know how I would have been able to heal and want to continue on without this program.
We jokingly refer to my son as the triple threat-- he has Down's syndrome, is on the autism spectrum and at age two was diagnosed with cancer. It is an understatement to say, our family somehow survived some pretty dark and long years of treatment. A year into his heavy chemo, one of his oncologists suggested we send out three girls to Camp Rainbow Gold's Siblings Camp. We did-- and it was life changing for all of us. Our girls escaped to a week (and many weeks in subsequent years) where everything revolved around them having fun, making friends and building memories instead of life centering on their brother. On top of that, it was a huge gift for me. You see, I carried a lot of "momma guilt" for pushing them to the wings while I focused on keeping my son alive. Camp Rainbow Gold was and continues to be a very bright light in our lives. The people who run it, the army of volunteers who make the magic happen, and the other families we've met at Family Camp and various activities are now dear, extended members of our family. We LOVE Camp Rainbow Gold.
I have been a volunteer with this organization for the past 11 years and they are a pleasure to work with! My sister attended Camp Rainbow Gold as a teenager and that experience had a tremendously positive impact on her well-being as a young cancer patient/survivor. I volunteer with the sibling programs and it is such an delight and an honor to see how these programs empower the lives if the siblings as well. The sibling programs were created once I was in adulthood, so I never attended as a camper; however, participating as a volunteer gave me some emotional healing I didn't know I needed. There is truly nothing like it, for both the volunteers and the campers!
Camp Rainbow Gold (CRG) helped make me who I am today. I started attending when I was 6 in the midst of being treated for A.L.L. leukemia. In my cabin that year was another camper named Cody who became my lifelong friend. Every year we would return to find that some of our fellow campers and friends had not survived their ordeal with cancer. The deep and meaningful experiences of healing and life lessons provided by CRG cannot be overstated. Cody and I eventually became junior counselors and then counselors, doing our best to give back to the community that had given so much to us. It has been many years since I have been back to Camp -- college, career, marriage, kids, life has kept me from returning -- but it remains a fundamental part of who I am. 0/10 would not recommend cancer, but if you are going to have cancer, CRG is an incredible place to be.
I've had the honor of being a donor and volunteer in a variety of capacities for this incredible non-profit organization. There is absolutely no better place for someone's time or money than Camp Rainbow Gold. Their staff is as careful at running logistically challenging opeartions as they are with the kids they serve. When I was a volunteer counselor at one of their week-long summer camps, I saw this firsthand. Weaving the utmost care in with the utmost fun isn't as easy as it sounds, but Camp Rainbow Gold is, indeed, the gold standard. The smiles on the children's faces and the stories they tell for years to come are all you need to know the profound impact Camp Rainbow Gold has on so many.
Childhood cancer can be a very isolating and challenging experience for, not only the child, but the siblings and parents as well. Camp Rainbow Gold has given my children and my family the opportunity to heal, grieve, grow, and support other kids and families who really understand our experience. The volunteers are the reason this camp is the best in Idaho and the highlight of the year for us.
My family has been involved with Camp Rainbow Gold for over ten years. When my then eight-year-old son was diagnosed with leukemia, Camp Rainbow Gold gave him a very special experience as part of his cancer journey. He has gone to the youth camps and teen camps every year since, and was a junior counselor for the first time this past summer. His three siblings have all participated in the wonderful Sibling Camp each year as well, with his older siblings having served as junior counselor and counselor. Our entire family has attended the Family Camp twice. Each and every experience that we have had with CRG has not only been positive, but has brought about some of our very favorite family memories. We can’t imagine not having had CRG as a support in our journey with childhood cancer. We are so, so grateful for the experiences of joy, hope and support. It has been such a gift to have been part of such an incredibly well-run and caring organization!!
Camp Rainbow Gold was not only wonderful my daughter, cancer survivor but also for my two other kids who went through her experience with her. The sibling camp helped them understand that they and our family are not alone in this experience and helped validate their feelings.
CRG has benefited my daughter by being able to attend the teen camp and then work as a camp counselor after she aged out as a camper. The college scholarship program has been a godsend to assist her as she gets her bachelors degree. Thank you CRG for all you do!
Camp Rainbow Gold has been an integral part of our family for more than a decade. CRG provided critical support while our daughter was going through treatment. In addition to support, the activities and experiences that CRG provides serves as a much-needed and healthy distraction during an otherwise intense and stressful time. Now that our cancer experience is far in the rear-view mirror we have continued to be even more blessed as we've been able to now become the support for others. Any family who is faced with childhood cancer should have an organization like CRG to help lighten the load and brighten the day. Our family cannot imagine a world without a little bit of Camp in it each year.
CRG has been an incredible resource for me. I started out as a camper and it gave me a safe place to share my experiences with cancer and helped me build a community I still lean on today. I have participated not only as a camper but also as a counselor and leadership member. This group of people and CRG's mission have given me more than I ever could have imagined. They not only work year round to develop summer camps that are safe and amazing for kids affected by cancer, but they also create moments year-round for these same kids to meet and have life long support and friendships. I can never repay what I've gotten from CRG and I will continue to be involved with this organization as long as I can. Thank you for everything.
I have gone to this wonderful cancer camp since i was 6 years old. I have had an optic gleoma since i was 2. I now continue to volunteer at this wonderful cancer camp up in the beautiful mountains of Idaho. Despite the fast that i live in California. I will keep going and volunteering at this cancer camp for these children until the day i die because this cancer camp has kept me going and reminded me that life can and does go one no matter what curve balls you may face.
