Mission: The mission of the brooklyn urban garden charter school (bugs) is to provide a hands-on, interdisciplinary education to young adolescents of all abilities and backgrounds, with a focus on real-world problem solving and the exploration of environmental sustainability. Bugs students will excel in the core academics subjects and become engaged community members who are critical thinkers prepared to achieve excellence in high school and beyond.
Programs: The brooklyn urban garden charter school (bugs) is a public charter middle school (6th - 8th grades) in brooklyn's community school district 15, serving the gowanus, red hook, sunset park, kensington, carroll gardens, and park slope neighborhoods. Bugs is an autonomous, community-based project that is independent from any charter school management organization, and provides an additional high-quality, innovative, and inclusive alternative for our community. During school year 2016-2017, bugs operated classes for 85 students in grade 8, 104 students in grade 7 and 96 students in grade 6.
