Mission: build sustainable communities together: At Bridge for Hope International we dream big. Our vision is to see a world without extreme poverty. On the individual community level, Bridge for Hope seeks to establish thriving communities that are free from poverty. The goal is to have communities sustaining themselves from within and being managed by their own denizens, thriving not only economically but in every aspect. On a macro level, the Bridge for Hope model of community development will be multiplied in neighboring communities to form regions that are successfully growing out of extreme poverty. These regions will be expanding within themselves and working in cooperation with local and national governments to bring nationwide poverty reduction. Ultimately, we envision communities, regions and nations across Africa and all over the world that have begun the successful climb out of poverty. We envision a world working together to bring equality and value to all people as we passionately seek to give every nation a future with hope. We envision an end to extreme poverty.
Results: We are currently raising funds for a new building to host our training session as we have outgrown our facility.
Target demographics: low income people
Geographic areas served: People living in the Cape Flats, South Africa
Programs: We believe that extreme poverty will not end until local communities can sustain and support themselves. And we believe that communities are not “fixed” – they are holistically nurtured and strengthened. Bridge for Hope International is seeking to end extreme poverty by building sustainable communities together with those within the community through a holistic community development model. By locally supporting education, healthcare, small business development, and Biblical Training we want to assist whole communities in raising themselves out of extreme poverty. Our first program site will be in a township with in the Cape Flats, an area that still carries the scars of apartheid and long-term economic hardship. Many of these townships, although full of hardworking and capable people, struggle under a high AIDS rate, few job training opportunities, and very little community development support.
