Mission: We are devoted to cutting gun deaths in half by 2025 through our three major campaigns: finish the job, bad apple gun dealers, and asking saves kids. The brady campaign works to pass and enforce sensible federal and state gun laws, regulations, and public policies through grassroots activism, electing public officials who support common sense gun laws, and increasing public awareness of gun violence. Through our million mom march and brady chapters, we work locally to educate people about the dangers of guns, honor victims of gun violence, and advocate for sensible gun laws, believing that all americans especially children, have the right to live free from the threat of gun violence.
Programs: Legislation and adjudication: promoting policy that keeps guns out of the hands of criminals and dangerous people. Specifically, "finishing the job" and working to urge congress and state legislature to expand background check to all guns sales.
public education: creating public health and safety educational campaigns that promote safer attitudes and behaviors around the 300 million guns in our homes and communities. In particular, we seek to expand nationally our ask (asking saves kids) initiative which has been proven effective in reducing accidental deaths of children, by promoting a peer to peer inquiry into the presence of unlocked and loaded guns in the home. Speak up empowers students with an unprecedented resource for preventing violence in their schools and communities. Students can safely and anonymously report suspected threats 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by calling 1-866-speak-up.
