Did it ever occur to anyone to look behind the figures as to the compensation of Roxanne Spillett? If any had, he or she would have quickly found out that what appeared to be an inordinately high level of compensation was in fact the accumualtion of deferred and actual compensation owed to her as she was retiring as of 12/31/11!!! The problem with "social media"? An avenue of anonymous comments by many people who are snarky or just ill-informed - and mean spirited.
According to their 11/12 IRS figures she made $1,848,593 (Roxanne Spillett President, CEO) which I think is ridiculous. I know people in the nonprofit like to justify high salary's by stating the salary is just a small percentage of the organizations revenue and in this case that is true. But I think most Americans think of it as "The Boys and Girls Club of America has to raise $1,848,593 just to pay one person's salary - money that could support their programs". Shame Ms. Spillett and the Board members who authorized it.
