Causes: Education, Justice and equality
Mission: Since 2011, Black Girls Code has engaged girls of color with computer programming education to nurture their careers in tech. We partner with schools, local organizations, and dedicated volunteers to offer in-person and virtual learning opportunities for girls and women of color aged 7-25. Our programs go beyond coding skills, equipping participants with the knowledge and confidence to realize their dreams.
Results: BGC has introduced more than 30,000 Black and brown girls, ages 7-17, to the tech field since being founded in 2011. Through on-site programs across the U.S., In-School Partnerships, Virtual Programs, and Alumni services, we have changed the face of Tech. As an organization, we are taking critical steps toward broadening our reach and deepening our impact on our students, communities, and the tech field at large. In 2023 we connected with 91,000+ young people through direct and indirect services.
