Mission: To mobilize a movement of people to aid in the deliverance of knowledge, thus creating a shift of thinking towards international projects and programs integrated within batey communities in the dominican republic.
Programs: Shelter is one of the most important aspects of a families life in third world countries such as the dominican republic. We provide the rare opportunity for families to apply to their community church leaders for design build assistance. Our shelter projects range from simple repairs to full modular housing design builds.
the batey rehab project inc provides the unique opportunity for design students at the savannah college of art and design to intern locally in the usa and internationally in the dominican republic. This program is offered solely to scad students and is open to all majors. Not only do students have the opportunity to gain real world experience, but they have an opportunity to design and build their own projects and work on real world projects being designed and conducted internationally in the dominican republic.
within the region of barahona a rare gemstone known as larimar is mined. We have a fair trade jewelry shop that offers amazing opportunities for our artisans. By earning fair wages, our artisans are empowered to put food on the table, pay for their childrens school supplies, or invest in their own education. Our designs are originally created by our students.
