These activities include wellness programs, community education programs, and special programs for the elderly, handicapped, medically underserved, and a variety of broad community support activities. Baptist memorial regional rehabilitation services, inc. Provides care to persons covered by governmental programs from which the hospital receives less than market value reimbursement. Recognizing its mission to the community, services are provided to both medicare and medicaid patients. To the extent reimbursement is below cost, baptist memorial regional rehabilitation services, inc. Recognizes these amounts as charity care in meeting its mission to the entire community. During the period ending september 30, 2017, the un-reimbursed value of providing care to these patients was $35,717,370. Charity care is also provided through many reduced price services and free programs offered throughout the year based upon activities and services which baptist memorial regional rehabilitation services, inc. Believes will serve a bona fide community health need. Baptist restorative care hospital, a division of baptist memorial regional rehabilitation services, inc. , is a 30-bed, long-term, acute-care hospital located within baptist memorial hospital-memphis. It is designed specifically for patients who require continued care over an extended length of time. Most of baptist restorative care hospital's patients are admitted from intensive care and subacute care units. Most patients stay at least four weeks. The hospital provides a multidisciplinary approach for weaning patients from the ventilator and our wound care program. Baptist restorative care hospital serviced over 200 patient discharges during the fiscal year ending september 30, 2017. Baptist memorial regional rehabilitation services, inc. Also participates and supports its parent baptist memorial health care corporation, in many special activities such as adopt-a-school, donations of cash, equipment and volunteer time, as well as, health fairs, diabetes screenings and others.
