Causes: Philanthropy, Public Foundations
Mission: To improve the quality of life of persons on the autism spectrum and their families through education, advocacy and support, thereby enabling them to be an integral part of the community. Our vision is that every person touched by autism in the heartland will receive the care and support necessary to lead a fulfilling and dignified life.
Programs: Programs and events - sponsored 224 therapeutic social skills programs in nebraska grade and high schools. Also sponsored a social skills program for post high school individuals. These school based programs enable educators to support young people with autism and improve their socialization skills with trained peer models. Hosted two events at the zoo for autistic individuals and their families and three events at the omaha children's museum. Provided 225 big red safety box toolkits to families in need as a means to educate and assist them in preventing, and responding to, wandering-related emergencies.
partnership for autism career employment - operated a program designed to provide employment support for adults with autism who want to find and maintain competitive employment positions. The mission of the initiative is to provide individualized, team supported, long-term employment services to adults who have autism so they may reach their career goals, achieve greater independence, and contribute in a personally meaningul way to the community.
resource center and awareness: maintained a website designed to provide access to information and current events focused on individuals with autism. Attended community events to promote awareness and educate the public on the challenges faced by individuals on the autism spectrum. Produced a video designed for autism awareness purposes.
