Mission: Animal Friends - VA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, no-kill rescue located in Bealeton VA dedicated to saving and finding homes for the dogs in our rescue. We pull many of our dogs from Animal Friends of Barbour County (afobcwv.org) a 501(c)(3) shelter in a rural area of WV. They have so many awesome animals just waiting for their fur-ever homes. We are helping to broaden the audience for these wonderful animals by bringing them to Northern Virginia. We also pull from local shelters and take in dogs that owners can no longer keep.
Animal Friends - VA is an organization of volunteers who are dedicated to saving the lives of surrendered, abused, neglected companion animals in our community and to help rural shelters by bringing companion dogs to our area to find forever homes where they are loved, spoiled and cherished.
We are a non-profit organization (501(c)(3) certified) that relies solely on generous donors and adoption fees to finance our operation.
Results: We began our mission over Labor Day in 2015 while going on our first transport to Animal Friends of Barbour County and bringing back a van full of dogs and a few kittens too. We have saved thousands of dogs and found great homes for each. We hope this number will continue to multiply as we continue our mission in the future. Our volunteers take pride in knowing that, because of our efforts, and the efforts of our network of rescue groups, thousands of Barbour County companion animals and dogs from local shelters have found homes with families that love and cherish them.

I adopted a dog through this organization. They used to be located in Woodbridge and recently moved into an adoption center in Bealeton. The volunteers are so dedicated and love the dogs so much. This move was great for them, even know the adoptions have slowed down significantly. There are people there all day long who give the dogs/pups a lot of attention! The adoption center is located on a huge farm and is such a peaceful environment.
