I can not say enough about the work that Anew Life a international is doing in our community. Bring a survivor, I have received these services myself. Once a survivor has been freed from the life, there is a misconception that she can just go back to normal living and everything is fine. I was gone for almost a decade trapped in the life of human trafficking. Once I was freed, trying to start over was very difficult because doors closed on me everywhere I turned. Even after an expungement in 2018, basic necessities like a home to rent, a job, etc were still denied to me. I met Kim through a mutual friend and she quickly jumped into action getting all my negative past erased so no one would have to see it and view me as a victim anymore. More doors began to open for me and there is finally a light at the end of the tunnel. Thank you Anew for all you do.
Having heard about this organization a few times, my wife and I decided to attend a Gala they had coming up.
To actually see the lives of the people changed and the horrors they had to through well... they don't have to anymore.
Not just the survivors but also the heros, big and small, that have built a strong network, willing to help transition victims into survivors is a world bending experience in itself.
Since then, I have become friends with some of the heros and admire their commitment to helping those who are unable to help themselves.
I will continue to support and advocate for ANEW as long as I can. I am grateful to watch their journey.
As a victim of violence, at the hands of the person I knew, it brings joy to know that there are organizations, like ANewInternational, right here in Brevard County to help those who need this nonprofit. At the time I was being severly abused, there was no place or organization that could help me. I was left to my abuser. As a wife, parent and grandmother now, and many years in counseling, it brings me peace and comfort to know that in the 21st Century there is help out there. Women and men are mistreated and harmed and are victims to others abuse. We can no longer bury our head in the sand and say, "This is not a problem in our county." It is a problem, just watch the news. Open your eyes and support this organization so those who need it have it- do not turn a blind-eye to the abuse in our society today. Do not let another person, like me, be told, there is no help for you in our society and have to be exploited on a daily basis.
