Who we are:

The Marin Rose Society is a local educational, nonprofit 501(c)(3) educational organization dedicated exclusively to the cultivation and enjoyment of roses and the promotion of America's Floral Emblem. The organization was founded in 1974 and currently has approximately 100 members. Most of our members are home gardeners who enjoy growing roses and want to expand their knowledge of rose culture. Many members also enjoy the thrill of exhibiting their roses in competition with other rose-lovers. We are part of the Northern California, Nevada and Hawaii District (NCNH) of the American Rose Society and share this district with 27 other rose societies with a combined membership of 2100.

What we do:

We sponsor a variety of educational forums from workshops in the winter months to cultivation techniques at our monthly meetings including talks by experts in horticulture.
We have members that have been qualified by the American Rose Society to serve as Consulting Rosarians – providing a public service to answer questions and provide problem solving information to home gardeners on rose related topics at no cost.
We publish a monthly Gold Award newsletter, The Marin Rose, filled with information on rose cultivation and related topics.
We host The Marin Spring Rose Show every May open at no charge to the public with rose events for children and families.
We created a public garden located at the Marin Art and Garden Center in Ross with over 160 varieties of rose plants, chosen for their disease resistance and great growing qualities for our Mediterranean climate. This is an organic demonstration garden which is maintained by our members.
We prune private gardens upon request each winter as a fund raising event. These donations to the Marin Rose Society help fund our educational outreach.
There are many Committees and activities that offer our members an opportunity to join together and volunteer their time to create a more beautiful and rosey Marin.
We promote the love of the rose as our National Floral Emblem of the Unites States of America.
