Causes: Alzheimers Disease, Health
Mission: Provide support, education, assistance, and awareness of alzheimer's disease, and operation of day respite center to provide socialization for early to mid-stage alzheimer's patients and a brief respite for their caregivers.
Programs: Education/training programs - a "elder law" program was held throughout the 20 counties served for families, caregivers, civic groups, churches, facilities and the community. 178 people attended.
support groups - 19 different support groups held throughout the 20 counties served. Meeting provide an opportunity for families and caregivers to learn through speakers, films, and discussions. Approximately 2,400 people attended support groups during the year ended june 30, 2014. 17 support groups meet monthly; 2 support groups meet twice monthly.
newsletter - published quarterly to keep members, caregivers, both family and professional, and community leaders aware of current research and medical developments, caregiving techniques and the organization's programs and activities. Approximately 4,000 newsletters mailed. Development of new website to expand access to education resources.
respite center - operation of a respite center to provide socialization opportunities for early to mid-stage alzheimer's patients and a brief respite for their caregivers. 2,000 patients have attended respite center in the year ended june 30, 2014.
