Mission: Alpha omega is the oldest international dental organization and was founded in baltimore, maryland in 1907 by a group of dental students originally to fight discrimation in dental schools. Today, with our headquarters relocated to rockville, md, it is primarily an educational and philanthropic organization. Throughout the year many lectures, seminars and study groups are promoted by local chapters for their local members. Community service projects ranging from our global oral health initiative, local care for the underpriveleged, to oversea missions, brightens smiles of those that we serve around the world. Alpha omega holds an annual convention and other leadership meetings, as well as activities for dental students.
Programs: Membership services - educational programs including lectures and other activities for dentists and dental students. The organization has approximately 5,000 members worldwide and 200 lectures during the year.
publications - scientific and research articles of interest to dentists. Publications are circulated two times per year.
the program, global oral health initiative, provides awards to local chapters that implement programs to support children and adults in underprivileged areas that would otherwise have been excluded from dental care due to their inability to pay for much needed treatment.
