Mission: Airport Assistance Center dba Travelers Aid Dallas/Fort Worth, a United Way agency, was formed in 1974 to be a source of assistance and social services to the patrons and employees of the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport community. A member of Travelers Aid International, Airport Assistance Center acts as a link to social service agencies in the DFW area while providing direct assistance to clients facing travel related difficulties or crises. Many clients live in the DFW area, while others are travelers.
Programs: Airport Assistance Center dba Travelers Aid Dallas/Fort Worth has two primary programs: Client Intervention and Visitor Information.The Client Intervention program provides a variety of services: crisis counseling and intervention, travelers assistance, car seat rental, runaway transfer supervision, translation services, military assistance, meet and assist services, TDD phones, information and referral, Western Union, and business services.
The Visitor Information program provides information about the airport, area attractions, and services. Volunteers answer questions from information booths located in DFW Airport terminals.
Primary client groups include travelers, area residents facing travel related difficulties or crises, military personnel, runaways, and foreign travelers. On average, 100,000 clients are served each year. 24-hour service is available. Service available ranges from answering simple questions by phone to full case workup and management.
