"Misplaced" an endowment fund with over 10grand ment for a wounded veteran then cut off all contact with said veteran
I'm proud to volunteer with this organization over the last 5 years! As a Marine Corps veteran, its mission resonated with me, and the methods they use to provide real, tangible support to veterans are inspirational. Also, I feel comfortable knowing that the money I raise for this charity goes to help my fellow veterans, and not to extravagant marketing expenses.

I was introduced to Active Heroes almost 4 years ago through a mutual friend. The amount of dedication and loyalty they have to our servicemembers and veterans is unmatched. Their goal of building a large veterans retreat to help veterans and their families cope with the effects of PTSD is brilliant and effective. Instead of just talking about helping veterans, they are taking tangible action. All of their activities are focused on ending veteran suicide, and I hope they continue to expand and gain traction.
This organization is the one I would love to support as a member of military family. I’ve been involved the fundraising events (Zumbathon®︎) last couple of years and it’s has been amazing. I absolutely would love to give my continuing support.
I have hosted two Zumbathons in Memphis, and danced at another. As a new retired veteran. It is nice to know of organizations that have the backs, of those who serve, or served.
I have been volunteering for a while now and the level of support they provide not only to volunteers but to the Veterans they serve is unmatched. I have nothing but positive things to say about this organization. I love telling others who could benefit from their services as well.
Active Heroes is a great organization to work with. Their mission is very important and near and dear to me.
I cannot imagine what it must be like for a veteran suffering from PTSD in our country right now during this time of so much social unrest and chaos. Now more than ever, we must be there for our veterans who are seeking a safe place here at home to ease their mind. Active Heroes veteran retreat is just that kind of place with acres of beautiful countryside set aside just for these heroes and their families, to nurture and help heal their hearts and souls. A friend of mine who donates much of her time to this retreat for our veterans invited a few of us out to see the wonderful things they're doing there and I was amazed by everything we experienced. Please share word of this special place with as many veterans as possible, to let them know they'll always have a wide open peaceful space they can turn to in times of difficulty and even when they are doing well, along with their families, at the Active Heroes Retreat set up especially for them. If you are a veteran yourself, I hope you check it out and are able to plan a visit, I truly believe you'll enjoy it so much. As always...THANK YOU for your service and for our security, which will never be forgotten, and I wish you much peace and happiness ♡
"Being there" for those that need you there...that's what Active Heroes is all about. Where the VA ends is where this amazing organization begins, and continues to give their heart and soul to our veterans. Check out their amazing website for more info about their program and their getaway cabins! SEMPER FI and I am proud to be a mentor for AH!
Doing wonderful things for veterans. Countless things to enjoy at this beautiful reserve. This is tucked away in Shepherdsville off hwy 480. Warms my heart to see what so many volunteers have created at this retreat.
I know this organization has saved lives. Several. That means something. Everything!

I've been a volunteer for this non-profit for many years. I've seen them turn their donations and in-kind gifts into lifesaving miracles for warriors battling depression and suicidal ideations. They're building a Military Family Retreat complete with life sustaining resources for anyone in a dark place. I wish I could give them a 7 out of 5. Amazing.
I served with one of these amazing gents and I've been able to see it all grow from the beginning. Active Heroes has constantly grown and adjusted its mission, to the ever growing needs of Vets and their families. They will continue to do amazing things and I hope one day I get to join the effort!
National Sons of AMVETS held a AMVETS Campout September of 2018, at the Active Heroes Retreat, and will hold another Campout this September 2019, we had a great time and we are looking forward to this years Campout. It has been a great partnership with Active Heroes.
The first time I heard of ACTIVE HEROES was on January 2017 when my fellow Zumba instructor, fellow veteran, & friend, Rob, invited me to be part of a Zumbathon Charity Event to raise funds for Active Heroes. Once he told me about the organization, I did not hesitate to say YES even if it means driving several hours to get there. As an Air Force Veteran with PTSD from my 5 deployments and my previous career field, I know the effects of PTSD. although each personal have different experiences, I can somehow relate. We need non-profit orgs like Active Heroes. AH is unique because the services offered are not only for the veterans but also for their family. I’ve also been to the retreat in Louisville, KY to tour and get trained as a volunteer. I’ve attended 4 Zumbathon for Active Heroes events, hosted one in Las Vegas in 2017, & hosting another one in Las Vegas on May 25, 2019. THANK YOU, Active Heroes for all you do!!!
Active Heroes is an AMAZING organization that is helping combat VETERAN PTSD AND SUICIDE. I would highly recommend supporting this organization and believe whole heartedly in what they are doing to make a difference for our community.
This organization does a lot of great things and I'm glad to be able to help them out any way I can.
Active hero's is one of the most down to earth, transparent and wholesome Charity's I have ever seen. All the folks there have true passion for the mission that they are striving to make a reality. I know that when I donate to active hero's, almost all of my money goes to something truly amazing. 22 to 0, a statement that is both heartbreaking and inspiring. I hope this can be achieved some day and have full faith that active hero's can make a real difference for those who make the ultimate sacrifice.
I have a friend that I was extremely worried about. I wanted to be there for him, but I knew that I did not live through the things he had experienced and did not feel I had the knowledge to fully help him. After talking with some other veterans and doing a internet search I found Active Heroes. The staff work very hard to be everything that is needed for the Heroes that have served our country. I have gotten to know Troy, and he has put his heart and soul into creating something that helps our heroes when they need it. Troy and the whole staff go above and beyond what I ever expected to find. This is such a needed and worthy cause. I am overjoyed that an organization like this exists.
Wonderful people helping out our veterans and theirs families. Been involved with Active Heroes for 3-4 years now with my husband. Strong belief in helping others and they have that same belief.
A friend of mine told me about Active Heroes so I checked them out. This is an organization that truly makes a difference by providing programs that help heal those veterans and family members who are suffering. I have since been honored to join this great organization
I have been a team leader in Wichita Kansas and have been involved with Active Heroes for 5 years. Troy has helped me personally so we both make Active Heroes and the events I organize better. I like that Active Heroes keeps their finances in clear public view so I know my work and funds are going to help veterans. I would recommend anyone who is willing to help veterans to get involved with Active Heroes.
I had been following Active Heroes events on Facebook back since 2012/2013, I realized this was the charity group I wanted to support. On one of our family vacations, we decided to drive through their town, stop in and pay them a visit. Meeting with Troy and Mareike that day showed me the compassion and care they have for our Military Men and Womem. They never once showed or displayed any high lifestyle of living through the people's donations. Just a great hearted and caring couple. This proved to me they made sure the funds were allocated to the people in need.
One of our family vacations included, joining in at the Family Retreat to work on clearing the property, trimming trees and building tables. While there, we even had the pleasure of doing a kids room and bathroom makeover for a husband and wife that were both in the National Guard. That in itself was great to see the joy it brought my kids, watching the little boys come home to a newly painted and decorated room.
The people I have met with and worked along side of, are all genuine and kind hearted people. On man especially that stood out, he was a disabled Army Vet and working right along side me at the retreat. That young mans name is Brian, he was an amazing young man with joy in his heart and a smile on his face. He too received a home make over himself funded by Active Heroes. When he realized how they helped him and his lovely bride with their new family, he was elated and humbled. He said it was hard to display or show signs of weakness by asking for help. He then realized Active Heroes is the real deal. Since 2013, I have made a number of donations, I have since included any tips from customers along with matching their contribution.
I have no doubt in my mind and heart that Active Heroes will use my donations appropriately for the bettering and well being of our Men and Women of our Armed Forces.
So for that alone, this is where I will always send my donations.
God Bless Active Heroes and their team for all they do.
God Bless the Men and Women of our Armed Forces.
I love my Active Heroes

This organization is on the forefront every single day reducing the veteran suicide rate. Truly a Noble cause.
I have been a part of Active Heroes now for almost a year and it has truly been a great experience! I signed up as a team leader and have held a Ruck March in my community, actually getting ready to have another! I have witnessed so much good come out of just our Ruck March alone, it has really opened the eyes of just how real PTSD and suicide rates are amount our veterans! My husband is an Iraq war veteran and suffers with PTSD, this program has helped him so much by just being active and helping me and meeting new people and also reuniting with some that he served with! Top notch non-profit and I look forward to many years working with them!
I have been with Active Heroes for quite some time and I absolutely love them. They are truly making a difference with the money raised. I have witnessed the funds being put back into the community and the cause.
Anything we have, we owe it to our vets. They deserve so much more so organizations like this makes a difference.
Active Heroes is a top notch group!! They’ve saved hundreds of lives through the great programs they offer.
AS a mother of a soldier I am so comforted knowing that active heroes is here for my son. As a sister of a soldier I am also comforted knowing that my brother and his wife and child can rely on active heroes. Also as a daughter of a veteran it is comforting to know that my father and our family are illegible to use services provided by active heroes. I myself recently , literally have called in a state of panic and confusion and within minutes was greeted and comforted and given direction for help. It’s amazing the amount of help this extraordinary group of people can offer along with the willingness to help. We are blessed to have Active heroes!
This is one of the few organization truly dedicated to helping our nations veterans. With veteran based leadership they truly know the best way to help.
An excellent charity, I have seen them personally go above and beyond for verterans and their families.
I've been volunteering since they opened the first community center. They are committed to the mission of ending veteran suicide.
Since day one, my family and I have loved this group & try to hrlp them out. They do so much for the Veterans. Every chance we can, we sing the praises for Active Heroes. We donate and ask our friends to donate to this excellent group. We also volunteer every year for their Stand at Attention Competition. Last year we even brought some of the local ROTC students with us. Can not say enough about this group. They ROCK!!!
As a disabled veteran I've received free Crossfit workouts at a local gym and free massages. A huge help!
Active Heroes has done so much for my husband and our family. Our first interaction with Active Heroes started when our family was chosen for a Room makeover. Not only did they finish a room for my husband that would be a man cave/ retreat place for him, but they also took notice that we didn’t have a functioning kitchen and re-did the entire kitchen for us! During that time Active Heroes became family to us. It was great for my Husband to have a verteran community he felt proud to be a part of. We loved helping them fundraise and felt like we could help this charity give to other veterans like they gave to our family. They are always just a phone call away and still help us whenever they can. When I was pregnant with my second child Troy and Mareike Yokum even brought Babies R Us gift cards so I could get what we needed for the baby. They are always checking on us to see how we are doing. They are a true blessing and I’m glad to have Active Heroes in our lives!
A++ non-profit. Very honest and genuine people who are passionate about their cause. After many years of seeing them grow, their community involvement has become second to none. I know that my donations are being used wisely and effectively. If looking for a non-profit to donate too, I highly recommend Active Heroes.
I am a disabled veteran, served quite a while. The mentorship, comradery, and the overall feeling of belonging is what this place has done for me.
Was able to volunteer at multiple events with Active Heroes. I love all the work we have been doing to help veterans!

I am continually more impressed with Active Heroes the more I learn about them. These hard working, selfless men and women work tirelessly to save lives and heal families in our community. There are too many specifics about their programs to name, but the impact they are making is undeniable!
Active Heroes is a wonderful organization that works hard to save and improve American Veterans lives. I have had the joy of working with them several times and look forward to working with them more. The Derby City Whisker Club heard about them while looking for a benefactor of our facial hair competition. When we looked into Active Heroes, we were excited at the potential of being involved with them and wouldnt change our choice.
Active Heroes goes above and beyond for the veterans they help and the teams that host events. I am proad to be a part of this amazing organization. As a veteran with PTSD, Active Heroes is the greatest organization that helps veterans in my opinion.

Thank you Nick!
A lot of funds were raised with very little to show for it and a very delayed output. Those that put the most in to earning were taken advantage of. The "leadership" is severely lacking. After a big board shakeup we haven't heard anything in the form of positive changes and there has been little to no activity.

Active Heroes has a lot of accomplishments and activity. You might not know where to find them. Check out the 2015 and 2016 accomplishments: https://activeheroes.org/about/financials/
I have never seen a more dedicated and heart felt organization who's entire mission is life is to help military and their families. They breath it and eat it with every ounce of their soul. They have done so much good and it's seems endless the things they can get accomplished . I love and I am proud to know Active Heroes.
Active Heroes goes above and beyond to provide many activities and services for veterans and military men and women and their families. Providing this support and having a place to go gives these heroes a place to get help and relax and have fun. Preventing one veteran suicide is amazing, but on average the are 22 a day. Support your military and support Active Heroes. Thank you Active Heroes for being there.
I have had the pleasure in participating in a few ruck march's with Active Heroes on the marathon route in Boston. I would have a hard time fully describing the true impact they have had on my life. They are life changing, bonding experiences.
My first year I was lucky enough to be lead by Justin Fitch. An absolutely phenomenal man with a drive, passion and dedication that few possess. In the following years and at the ruck in his memory the march continued to surpass my expectations.
I went in not really knowing what to expect but wanting to show my support for those who protect, serve and sacrifice for this great country. The morning started off with a motivational speech and then I watched 22 people take a knee representing the 22 lives a day that are lost to Veteran suicide. In the moment of silence that followed the power of what we were about to take on and the reason for it hit me.
I saw countless yellow ribbons, photographs of loved ones: husbands, wives, sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, friends, fathers and mothers pinned to the back of rucks and being carried. American flags were proudly displayed. I asked people to tell me stories about the people in the photographs. I wanted to know what they were like. Hear the tellers favorite memories of the ones they lost. There were tears, laughs but most importantly there was a sense of camaraderie.
The logistics and planning that went into making this day a HUGE success were incredible. Check in was easy and they kept the group moving along as a comfortable pace. There were planned stops and a follow camper for anyone needing a break. We had police escorts most of the way and a planned stop at a VFW for lunch and a small 'service'. There were always people checking in to see how you were doing or if you needed anything. If you were ever short of motivation to continue walking all you needed to do was look left or right and you find it right next to you.
We walked down Boylston St towards the marathon finish line as a group. Finishing the same way we started. The hugs, tears and smiles were overwhelming and I knew without a doubt that I would continue to return to this amazing event every year possible.
Come be a part of a truly remarkable experience!
Current serving National Guard member. Been working with Active Heroes for almost four years now. A charity that is providing great commaraderie to those separated from service. While also providing support and direction to get a host of services and treatments to those looking for career advice to alternative hearings like music and art therapy. Great organization and greater transparency in a very crowded and cloudy npo space.

I didn't get to serve my country the way I wanted to. This amazing organization gave me the chance I was looking for. I have never dealt with a more dedicated, caring, and selfless group of people in my live. I have been a Team Leader for just over a year now and the mutual support is unbelievable. And let's not forget their mission..."reducing the veteran suicide rate from 22 a day to 0." Is there a better cause?
Active Heroes is an organization committed to seeing the realization of their goal; ending the staggering toll of veteran suicide. Through national community based events and fundraisers, the people who work non-stop at Active Heroes have provided a base to raise awareness, a retreat center for veterans AND their families. This group has selflessly made sure that over eighty cents $.80USD of every dollar $1USD goes to directly providing veterans with multiple benefits and stress relief.
Speaking from personal experience here, this organization helped to save my life and inspired me to reach out and do the same for other veterans.

Have followed Active Heroes for several years. They have helped so many veterans with assistance in paying bills, home remodels, and other financial aid. They are now building a military retreat to assist with PTSD, which is such a needed service!!
I have not personally experienced the wonderful things that Troy & Markie have accomplished, I met them prior to all of this when this was Troys dream & Markie was his number 1 supporter. I was lucky enough to met them not long after they walked across the U.S. I have never met a more driven person than Troy. Over the years I have watched them grown their dream & I'm so proud of them, they bring me to happy tears. Many sacrifices have been made for Active Heros to be what it is today with such a wonderful retreat with so many things for the veterans to do. I support them fully, they will always be special to me & I love them very much.
Active Heroes helps end veteran suicide. Unlike many other charities that just raise awareness. They have multiple programs that actually make a difference.
I was able to meet up with the founders of Active Heroes during the hike across the country. There isn't a more humble or hard working veteran advocacy group around. I've donated a lot of money to this cause, over the past many years, and never once have I second guess the use of those donations.
Active Heroes is just that.. they are Active Heroes to the max. They give attention to stuff that some people want to think about. One Veteran's suicide is one too many.
Have to say, this awesome, beautiful event is so close to my heart. I was a friend of Philip Bordeaux. His mom, Cathy is an amazing gold star mom and so proudly honors him and all our service men and women tirelessly working for this worthy cause. It is so important to support our military when they need us the most. Our help and support is a small gesture with a mighty impact!
I am a Navy Mom and wanted to help/give back to my daughter and others who are serving. I met Cathy Bordeaux, a Gold Star mom and learned about her, her son and their story. I knew immediately that I wanted to help. If my daughter ever needed assistance, she would have an amazing resource in Active Heroes. This is my third year to participate in the Stand At Attention and I am so proud to be a part of it and to be associated with this outstanding group of people. I am very proud to say that my daughter will be standing at this year's event in Raleigh representing our great US Navy.
