Mission: The A.J. Muste Memorial Institute was founded in 1974 to further the goals of its namesake, US pacifist leader A.J. Muste: to explore and teach how nonviolence can be used to bring about world peace, and social and economic justice. Through grants, sponsorships, publications and management of a building in New York City that serves as home to a number of activist organizations, the Institute seeks to help people spread the message of nonviolent social change all over the world.
