VLI is committed to aiding local veterans and giving individuals in need legal assistance. I have observed how individuals and staff members unite, commit their time, and work tirelessly to assist these warriors genuinely and have an effect.
This excellent nonprofit organization needs your assistance and that of all your friends. Your money will be spent on the clients, not on administration, as you will see. Since you can, and they need you, do the right thing and give!
I love VLI and will support them to the best of my ability!
Veterans Legal Institute promises to provide high-quality pro-bono legal assistance to the individuals who have dedicated their time and efforts to serving our country, and they deliver on this promise every time. As a volunteer at VLI, I have been astounded by the countless hours the team dedicates to ensuring the veteran population receives legal help that is specific and tailored to each individual problem. A large portion of this team does so by volunteering, just as I do, and I am inspired by their relentless pursuit to fulfill Veterans Legal Institute's mission each and every day. Whatever the challenge, Veterans Legal Institute answers the call with grace and empathy. They serve those who have heroically chosen to serve our country, and their work is life-changing, as is evidenced by countless client testimonials. I am happy to be part of such a committed, persevering team of people to contribute to this great, great cause.
VLI is dedicated to helping veterans in the community and providing legal service to those in need. I have seen how people and staff members all come together and dedicate their time and energy to truly help these veterans and make an impact.
It has been both an honor and a pleasure to volunteer at VLI for the past year, and to help out the amazing staff. I was constantly being warmly welcomed and included by my fellow staff. Even as a volunteer, I still feel like I am making an impact, thanks to VLI.
VLI and its team are truly impeccable and the exertion of leadership is immaculate. I will only ever have outstanding things to say about this profound institution and their staff that showcase complete dedication and consideration, especially towards veterans.
Veterans Legal Institute is an exemplary charity for several reasons. They started with a clear vision shared by two actual Veterans. They understand how difficult it can be for vets to navigate the bureaucracy of the Veterans Administration to secure the benefits they earned and need when they're in crisis. And during times of great need, these founders also understand that a proud veteran may be reluctant aggressively ask for help.
So instead of simply offering blanket legal support, Vets Legal has the credibility to genuinely relate to veterans and enlisted personnel in need from a place of respect, destigmatizing vets who find themselves at risk. From inception, as sophisticated business and legal professionals, they were able to intelligently plan programs, identify weaknesses in the current system, and enlist assistance from some of the finest legal minds available to connect at risk clients with immediate solutions. All of this serves to facilitate life changing relief through direct client assistance, fueled by community and government relationships.
And not many charities have the capacity or resources to dedicate to grant application processes, necessary to secure private and institutional capital. Vets Legal does and chooses to commit copious hours of precious time to these very specific, challenging activities, knowing that every single dollar acquired will immediately positively impact the life of someone who had committed their very life to all of us.
The vast majority of staff is volunteer. All the critical legal support is pro bono and nearly 94% of all dollars in go toward program expenses.
As widow of a Marine who was an avid supporter of Vets Legal, I am delighted to now serve on their board and contribute in any way I can to further the support we provide to at risk veterans and their families.
Veterans Legal Institute provides free legal assistance to homeless, at risk, and low-income current and service members here in Orange County, working to eradicate barriers to housing, healthcare, education, and employment and foster self-sufficiency. VLI is one of the only public interest law firms in the nation wholly dedicated to veterans and active duty military personnel.
I served in the Marine Corps, and I'm now an attorney. It has been my privilege to support VLI as a board member for the last 4+ years. I have been consistently impressed with how much VLI does with its very limited resources. Since 2014, more than 9,000 homeless, disabled, and at-risk veterans have received the power of free legal aid to improve their lives at home. VLI provides over 85 free legal clinics a year, and has around 1500 active legal matters per year, including eviction defense, veteran benefit appeals, discharge upgrades, and estate planning.
My great grandfather, grandfather and father all served in the U.S. Armed Forces, all three in theaters of war. And while I am proud to have gone to law school and now run my own law firm, regrettably I did not follow in my family's footsteps. I always thought about my missed opportunity to keep the family tradition of service alive when I was approached by VLI with a unique opportunity to provide service to our service members in my capacity as an attorney. 5 years ago I began providing pro bono legal service to veterans through VLI as my way of keeping my family's history of service going. In that time I have helped numerous veterans obtain justice when they otherwise would have been locked out of exercising their rights. In 2021 VLI honored me as their Attorney Advocate of the Year and my father, Capt. H.S. Roberts, USMC ret. was able to attend the ceremony and be honored himself for his service as a Vietnam veteran. In giving me the opportunity to help veterans, VLI allows me to serve America in recognition of my forefathers.
Veterans Legal Institute ("VLI") is, by my estimation, the absolute best nonprofit at actually doing what it promises to do. VLI provides essential, at times life-saving legal services to our veterans. The quality of the legal services they provide is top-shelf, and I'm always amazed at how much of every dollar donated becomes tangible, material benefits to those we serve. I've heard it said that every dollar donated to the VLI translates to _more_ than one dollar of service to the veterans. This is possible because of the strength of VLI's full-time leadership, and the graciously-donated time of so many attorneys in our community.
Excellent leadership, strong organization, and elite-level service to our veterans is why I love working with the VLI. I encourage anybody who is interested in paying back those who served us to donate time, talents, energy, and resources to the VLI!
I am a veteran who was lost in anything dealing with paperwork for my divorce as well as other family issues I had going on. So I made a call to VLI and it was the best decision I made! Specifically, Ms. Katie Binkley was extremely helpful and patient and walked me through everything til the end. She always kept me updated and communicated with me through out the process. Her team was just as terrific as she was and they've helped me on numerous occasions, each time they helped or guided me to the resources I needed. They're a respectful organization and I'm grateful to have an organization like them around!
I have enjoyed watching Veterans Legal Institute navigate this crazy world with our Vets. They have a team of expert attorneys who can get our Veterans the legal help that they need and deserve.
VLI takes great pride in being involved in creating a strong future for them. This is key to their success. Services that they provide are pro bono legal assistance to homeless, at risk, disabled and low income current and former service members to eradicate barriers to housing, healthcare, education, and employment and foster self-sufficiency.
This is one amazing non profit that needs your help and all of your friends too! You will see your funds being used FOR THE VETS not for administration. Do the right thing and donate because you can and THEY need you!
Veterans Legal Institute does incredible, needed, and timely work on behalf of veterans, especially in Southern California. VLI provides a crucial lifeline for improving the legal status, care, and benefits of veterans of all ages and does an amazing job working with its partners, volunteers, and the community, to provide the most effective and cost-efficient services possible to veterans.
I could not be prouder to have been a VLI volunteer for many years and recently a member of the Board. At ArentFox Schiff, VLI has been an indispensable source of pro bono work and VLI, unlike many nonprofits, gives out way more services (in monetary value) for every dollar it brings in. In a nutshell, VLI is a force multiplier for veterans!
VLI's staff and volunteer attorneys are committed to serving veterans in the community and providing legal services to those in need. The organization has grown significantly in recent years and continues to have substantial impact by providing direct client services. It's been a pleasure to serve of the board of directors and be a part of this organization that gives back to my fellow veterans.
