This agency has such compassion and dedication for those they serve. I'm in awe of every event that I've been involved in or witnessed from the sidelines. The support systems that are present within the services they offer is upstanding beyond comprehension! I've not witnessed this kind of dedication to a cause in Brevard County and if you have the ability to be a part of it you will walk away a better person because of the experience!
I have been volunteering as Vice President of NVHS since October 2009. I am currently in the US Air Force based out of Patrick AFB, FL and give the majority of my free time to this organization. I have volunteered with a lot of organizations over the past 11 years I have been in the Air Force, and never have I ever come across one like this. We are very successful in going into the woods an help homeless veterans survive outdoors while trying to connect them with other social service organizations to get them housed and employed. We manage a transitional housing program that will have 16 beds available by Mid-2013 in Brevard and Orange Counties, and with that all of the officers in this organization are still volunteers!! Talk about dedication to the cause, I love this organization, the community as a whole loves this organization, and I encourage anyone to give us a chance and see that we change lives everyday... I am entirely a volunteer and I recommend this to anyone!
Review from Guidestar
I have worked with NVHS for over twenty years as an Executive Director of another non-profit partner agency. This organization's mission is to "Eliminate homelessness among veterans in Central Florida". Their efforts include Search and Rescue, Stand Down Events, Referral to Veteran's Services and benefits, Housing, Food, Tents, Clothes and anything that can improve the lives of our brave men and women veterans. This Christmas once again NVHS will provide motel rooms for those living in the woods, meals and gifts for many in need. They are currently purchasing and renovating homes for shared living affordable housing. Donations are always needed to help support their efforts.
