The foundation was established in 1993 to facilitate medical research and educational activities in military medical facilities. Such activities include providing management support to assist in the research and development of new medical therapies and providing academic opportunities for medical personnel.

The foundation has emerged as a leading non-profit organization in support of military medicine by building relationships with highly skilled researchers, by providing strong financial and program management services, and by maintaining a focus on superior customer service. The geneva foundation's vision is to be the premier foundation serving the military medical community, fostering research and educational opportunities while providing superior customer service with the highest level of integrity. Geneva strives to work hand-in-hand with its partners to shape the future of military medicine. Since its inception in 1993, the geneva foundation has managed over $331 million in federal and non-federal funds in support of military research and education. In 2016, the foundation supported approximately 479 industry-sponsored clinical trials and federal and non-federal grant and contract programs. To accomplish its mission, the foundation partners with over 101 military medical facilities and laboratories nationwide. While the foundation's growth in the management of clinical trials, grant research, and education programs continues to reach new heights, geneva remains focused on providing a high level of customer service customized to each client's individual needs. Geneva's corporate office remains small with eighty-seven (87) people who directly support the work of many more project-based employees and investigators. Geneva's multi-faceted collaborations allow it to support research activities that directly impact the safety, health, and wellness of the united states armed forces and their beneficiaries and affect the public at large.
