Results: To this date, we have provided 55,490 bed nights to homeless moms and kids in Sun Prairie.
Target demographics: We serve homelss single mothers and thier minor children.
Direct beneficiaries per year: 21 women and 54 children in our Transitional Housing Program. To this date, we have served 76 women and 154 children in our program. Many of those families are still served in our aftercare program.
Geographic areas served: Shelter from the Storm Ministries is Transitional Housing Program located in Sun Prairie, WI.
Programs: At Shelter from the Storm Ministries, our residents are welcomed into our program for six to twelve months, depending on their individual needs. We offer an ongoing aftercare program to support women as they move out of our homes and on to the next season of their lives. Our case managers work with each client to develop a personal plan to move them into self-sufficiency. Our team brings healing and independence to our clients through mentoring, education, and support programs, including: Budgeting and Financial Planning Goal Setting Parenting Classes Success Mentoring Life Skills Coaching Nutrition and Cooking Classes Health and Wellness Training Career Readiness & Job Search Skills Bible Studies and Prayer One on one Trauma Counseling and Group Support We believe in a “Hand-up,” not a “Hand-out.” Our clients and case managers will work collaboratively to develop personal goals and a working plan to help our clients reach independence.
