We recently learned about Community Action Now! We thank them for all of the love and support they have shown during this wonderful holiday season. This is a great non-profit. We plan to share any we can give to each other for the near future. Happy Holidays.

I learned of Community Action NOW! in 2017 following the devastation of two Category 5 Hurricanes in the U.S. Virgin Islands. CAN was integral in providing food, shelter, medical and more for displaced hurricane evacuees in the Atlanta area.

CAN's disaster relief assistance was exemplary. Today, CAN offer workforce development training for displaced workers in the USVI amongst other initiatives.

Community Action Now is an Awesome Organization and I am proud to say that I am a Board Member!

Through this organization we have helped hundreds with housing, disaster relief and given solar energy to those who otherwise may have not been able to afford it

There are countless children that have had the opportunity to gain knowledge in robotics and receive laptops because of CAN.

CAN is an amazing organization, assisting with disaster preparedness and relief, as well as supporting the youth in the community. I got to help with some of the work to get the youth summer program started and I was blown away by the attention and care put into each step of the process. This organization builds each program to maximize bettering the community.

Community Action Now has been a beacon in our community for years, providing much needed services and resources to families.

The organization has provided COVID shots, Christmas bikes and toys as well as utility assistance to so many families. I have volunteered with this amazing group because they are for the people and they care about our community.

5 out of 5 on my full experience with this nonprofit. They are very hands on and made me feel comfortable. They are really here to help the community and don’t just do things for show. I appreciate that they show they care in all aspects of their services. I just want to say thank you and my experience with you all was great.

Community Action NOW! (CAN) has from Day one been a reputable organization and I am proud to be a part of it.

Under the leadership of its Executive Director, Iffat Walker, and the Board members CAN has consistently given back to underserved communities in the U. S. Virgin Islands and East Metro Atlanta.

This has been accomplished in various ways including disaster response and management, youth programs, community outreach and more!

CAN's vision is to "transform communities and lives through the implementation of sustainable programs that support vulnerable populations by  providing resources that increase self-sufficiency". CAN continues to manifest this vision.

This organization serves the most vulnerable sector of our population at risk youth. They provide programs that meet the needs of the youths and their families. They assist with meeting the needs of the young people and give them opportunities for growth. By having a strong foundation then as adults they will make better choices.

community action now is everywhere! that's how it feels because each person brings his or her true passion to direct service to others. i have watched them at work here in the u.s. virgin islands, revitalizing savan, feeding the homeless and giving people purpose. the very people community action now helps also become part of the movement by pitching in - helping themselves as they help each other. we all need to know that feeling of being the light in someone's life. #manyhandsmakelightwork - i'll be back next month to see my new friends!

My name is Dwight Leonard. I volunteered with this organization while I was on work assignment in St.Thomas in 2015. They did a clean up in a community called Savan. Most clean ups usually last like a day or two, they were in that community for almost a month, every single day. I have really never had that type of experience until I was in the gut with them, hands on.

Not only did they do a clean up, it was more like they engaged the community to do it for themselves, they just provided the resources to get it done. It was like they were really counseling people in a very hands on kinda way. Some of the areas that they were in in my opinion was pretty scary but the way I saw them approach people and gain theeir trust is remarkable. I honestly never saw this type of approach. Its commendable. What I liked most about it was when we were handing out trash bags and gloves with them, most of the volunteers were just so nice,, they would walk up to a homeless person and hand them a trash bag, give them a hug and say, hey, lets clean this area up together, how many bags you need? The person would just smile and start cleaning up and telling them their life stories. It was really one of the best volunteer experiences I had ever had. They really touched peoples hearts those days. I was only able to volunteer for one of the days ,but everyday I passed down, I saw them there, sitting and talking to people and helping them.

I first learned about Community Action Now from one the volunteers at the Market square in St.Thomas. I was there on a early Saturday morning and I saw the volunteeers in the yellow shirts going to emancipation garden to feed the homeless. I walked up to the emancipation garden with him, his name I think is Kai.

I ended up helping them.I had so much fun with kai and the team that day. We worked hard but had so much fun while work and helping our helping our people. Even the homeless people wanted to help and wanted to give what little pennies and nickels they had to keep this going. I loved this. If I was still on the island I would still be helping them.

I met the founder, Iffat Walker about a year or so ago, she actually helped me with my resume at a job fair that she was having in the Conyers area through her organization C.A.N. She then invited me out to sit in on one of her business classes for entreprenuers. At the time she was teaching a business class to a group of students that were starting businesses. I have never seen someone reach and empower an audience the way I've seen her. I have never seen anyone teach a person that is going through hell the way she taught her class. Her students were all on public assistance and trying to get ahead. Her students were really in aww of her presence and her demeanor and her wealth of knowledge. She was patient and very kind in a way that you just don't see when it comes to teaching adults. I just think she is amazing. I have since followed her work through Community Action NOW and to be honest with you, this organization is a jewel that will FAR outlast many organizations. The volunteers in this organization are committed and truly believe that they can eliminate poverty..and they are doing it, one community at a time. All I can say is, they have an AMAZING leader in Iffaat, and more people need to take notice to what she is doing in impoverished communities and join her team. I can see this organization growing to be one of the top in the world.

I must say, this organization is AMAZING! The work that I have personally witnessed in the Virgin Islands is just honestly remarkable. I have seen this team, in their neon yellow t-shirts all over the island encouraging others to give back. I've seen them as early as 7am in the mornings not only feeding homeless, but giving haircuts and cleaning up communities. I think back in April I also saw some of their volunteers handing out financial literacy in all languages. They are just amazing and I wish I could do more to help, one day I will. They are well worth an amazing review. They change lives and empower communities in a remarkable way.
