A domestic violence shelter is supposed to be a safe haven away from your abuser. At the Bethany House I felt very unwelcome and the staff was verbally abusive. I left my life of abuse and stress only to get treated like a dog here. And if you have a disability they're very discriminative against the disabled! I was told after only a little over a month that I had to leave because I have no income and I'm disabled with PTSD, clinical depression, generalized anxiety, and severe spinal stenosis! I was told by my case worker not to take my walking cane with me to job interviews because I wouldn't be hired! I felt like they were discriminating against me and treated me like a dog! I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy! They also have roaches and bed bugs!

The staff has clearly had no sensitivity training and are verbally abusive to their “clients”. During my stay at the Bethany House I felt like I was in jail. They have lots of over bearing rules. The second you stand up for yourself against the abuse you are told to leave if you don’t like their rules. They use cameras to watch your every move. They treat you like you are a child. They tell you what to and when to do it. You basically are leaving your abuser to go there and be abused by them. Also, they care more about how clean their damn place is then they do about the clients. While staying there I worked a 13 hour shift then when I got on I was asked to mop 2 sections of the floor. Wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.
