I am a volunteer weekend puppy raiser in Massachusetts and have found my time volunteering with America's Vetdogs to be one of the most rewarding experiences. I am raising my second puppy, and am immensely proud of the successes of my first dog. Volunteers support one another and trade tips and advice and it is a great community to be a part of. I haven't yet visited AVD's parent organization, the Guide Dog Foundation, in New York just yet, but I look forward to seeing the impact of my time volunteering with AVD in the very near future. From other volunteer experiences I know that veterans are among the most appreciative and humble "customers" and I'm thrilled my sometimes selfish desire to have a puppy around to play with and socialize is serving the greater good in such a meaningful and lasting way.
