Mission:
San Pedro Citizen Guard, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit all volunteer organization made up of dedicated individuals who generously donate their time and energy to help protect the San Pedro community.
The Reality
Every day, we read about individuals pleading for help to overcome violence and other blight in their worlds. These calls only confirm the increases in violence, harassment, and intimidation reported daily in newspapers and research surveys. Bullies, predators, gangs, con-men, vagrants and others in increasing numbers, are creating fear and danger in our communities. The perpetrators lurk in schools, neighborhoods, streets, alleyways and the Internet.
The Dream
That all children will enjoy a safe environment in which they can rise to their full potential and develop self-esteem, confidence and pride of accomplishment through a contribution and commitment to society.
The Goal
To motivate all citizens including teachers, parents and children to create a safer, more powerful future through programs focused on personal safety, civic contribution, value development and cyber security. To bring violence prevention programs to schools for the benefit of students, families, and teachers. To serve as a resource for training teachers in violence prevention at institutions of higher learning.
The Plan
Through increased partnership with educational, business, cultural and religious institutions in our communities, we will solidify and expand our pragmatic and positive role model programs. We will expand and enhance our programs focused on personal safety, neighborhood safety, cyberspace safety and civility, with a special emphasis on overcoming social and educational adversity. In concert with our schools, we will employ groundbreaking methods to develop curricula illustrating and documenting the benefits of violence prevention.

Patrol Duties & Event Security
Patrolling is an essential part of what we do at SPCG. The basic functions of patrol are to prevent crime by identifying and reporting on conditions, to deter crime by showing an area is fully covered by a security volunteer force and to repress crime by constantly and frequently reporting conditions detrimental to the public's quality of life. Patrolling also helps bring an SPCG volunteer closer to the public and helps him form valuable area connection.
SPCG volunteers can also be called upon to provide event security at the various events that occur annually in San Pedro.
Elder Welfare Checks
SPCG volunteers also offer routine or on-demand safety checks on seniors living alone or other individuals that are unable to move about such as the handicapped. This service has been well received by many communities and most people really appreciate knowing someone will check on their loved one and offer assistance if needed.
Home Security Checks
SPCG volunteers also offer routine or on-demand (exterior only) safety home checks for homeowners that are away on vacation or business for extended periods of time. In the event of a noticeable problem, SPCG volunteers can notify an emergency contact left by the homeowner so they may address any problem observed by the volunteer. This service has been well received by many communities and most people really appreciate knowing someone will check up on their property and offer assistance if needed.
Other Volunteer Opportunities
SPCG volunteers can also be called upon by other San Pedro groups to perform a variety of duties that will in some way help the community of San Pedro such as: Alley Cleaning, Street and Sidewalk Sweeping, Beach Clean-ups, Yard Clean up for seniors and more...
When requested, SPCG will support these San Pedro groups with our volunteers. It’s about working TOGETHER to make San Pedro a safer and better place to live.
