CALICO plays a vital role in Alameda County. Children pulled from a neglectful or abusive environment are brought to CALICO for counceling and evaluation. The staff deal compassionately with these fragile children in ways that support them and minimize the trauma they are going through. Each child leaves with a stuffed toy and a blanket (new) to provide a sense of security and love during a most difficult time in their lives. I support this organization and only wish I could do more to support their work.

Causes: Crime & Law
Mission: CALICO achieves justice and healing for abused children and for adult victims with developmental disabilities. Its mission is to provide a supportive environment to interview victims and facilitate a collaborative response to abuse in which the needs of victims take precedence.
Results: Last year CALICO achieved the following: •Conducted over 700 forensic interviews with child victims of sexual and physical abuse •Provided crisis intervention and follow-up support to each child’s family •Trained over 1,000 child-abuse professionals
