I love working for this nonprofit! It is very fulfilling work with this organization and I truly love getting to know all of the homeowners. Another aspect of my job that I love is working in the ReStore and getting to know our amazing, loyal customers! Our staff and volunteers make our store a great place to visit and work. I feel blessed to be a part of such a great team!
The Habitat ReHome store in Rome is a great place to visit. The staff and volunteers are exceptionally helpful and welcoming. There is always a staff member or volunteer nearby if visitors have questions or need anything. And they're willing to help you find whatever you need. In particular, staff members Taylor, Amber, Pam, Betsy and the guy who works in the warehouse are knowledgeable and friendly. In addition to all this, it's a pleasure to shop there knowing the money goes toward building homes in our community.
Habitat Coosa Valley is an affiliate of Habitat International. A non profit that puts the focus on providing families with a new home; which helps create stability for the family and the community. The families purchase the home through a low- interest or no-interest loan.
Thus returning funds to Habitat who can build more homes for other families. Habitat -Coosa Valley also manages a thrift store, which recycles tons of gently used furniture and housewares each year. Thus keeping the items out of the landfill! The store is always busy and is a wonderful place to find a unique bargain!
Habitat-Coosa Valley depends on its volunteer base to build homes and help run the store. A small paid staff provide continuity for the affiliate's mission. Habitat International works around the world to provide homes and is supported by former president, Jimmy Carter and his wife through their work on homes and fundraising efforts.
I have been volunteering with HFH-Coosa Valley for the past 33 years with most of my time on home construction and the past thirteen years with the ReStore. I am also involved with eight other local charities, but I rank this one as my preferred and most satisfying. I urge anyone reading this to come join in. I guarantee you will have a pleasant and rewarding experience.
Having lost my home and all contents and being of limited finances I have replaced most of my furniture and a good bit of decor at the Habitat store.
The personnel are invaluable and it lifts my spirits each time I get to visit. They are real and warm , always a greeting and a smile and are seemingly glad to see me when I am there.
I have nothing but praise for the store and those who run it. They work hard for our community and we are blessed, I know I am, that we have such a place.
It’s also enjoyable just roaming about to see what things people have donated A wee treasure hunt of sorts.
Do go and experience it for yourselves and donate if you have the chance.
You will find yourself rewarded in all aspects!
