Mission: We achieve our mission by connecting our residents to resources that support them in making these sometimes-difficult, but always life-changing choices-single mothers finishing school and finding rewarding careers; young people discovering their career interests; families moving from homelessness to a new beginning; seniors finding that they still have much to give their communities. As each life changes, communities change. Where once there were alienation, anger, violence, and disparagement, neighborhoods are experiencing a new wave of hope and purpose. Hope Through Housing is a catalyst. The resources it receives from its donors go directly into service. Because of its special relationship with Southern California Housing Development Corporation (our parent non-profit), no overhead or administrative costs are paid from donations. Instead, Southern California Housing Development Corporation pays all the staffing and administrative costs associated with running the foundation.
Programs: Hope through housing foundation provides the following: (1) six low cost preschools in poor communities so children are prepared to start kindergarten; (2) after school programming at 37 sites during the critical hours of 3:00 p. M. And 6:00 p. M. Offering low income youth homework help, academic enrichment activities that support in-school learning, nutritional snacks and exposure to positive adult role models; and (3) access to necessary services for aging adults to live well through independence.
This is suppose to be a foundation to help families, and the elderly. It is discouraging to see how they miss use the publics money. I have been living in one of the communities for a proximately three years. Within that three years we have seen approximately four managers come and go. With each manager it's a new set of rules. It's hard to live in a community where the rules do not apply to every one. Where if the manager is at odds with you, you will be evicted. There is no backing from the superiors of the organization. If they do not like what you are saying they will ignore your phone calls and you will get no help. I would strongly advise that no one invest their money into this foundation because they move people in and out of the apartment complexes or worse then cattle.
