Formally was housed thru CYS. They discriminate against people especially single dads. At the least in my case. I had a roommate who was in the housing with my daughter and I. An I was expected to pay rent as my roommate informed me He did not have to for a year of being in housing. He was even waved of having to pay back for months he missed after getting a job. Ridiculous and humiliating the way I was treated.
Review from Guidestar
CYS has a long, sustainable history of programs and services for youth and families in our community. This agency stewards hope and recovery for youth and families, while also working hard to provide community and staff engagement and support. As the agency continues to grow and add more programs, their effectiveness for care coordination and preventative care will grow and benefit participants and our communities. I have a deep respect and investment in CYS and am so excited for their future growth, both internally and in their physical locations.
Community Youth Services is a top long performing nonprofit that meets and exceeds community expectations support youth and their families across the Southwest Washington region. Their programs and staff are innovative and effective. So many youth and families in our communities have benefited greatly by this progressive social safety net. There isn't a better more professional staff and volunteer staff. The Thurston region supports CYS and it's mission.
I was involved with community youth services as a teen and was very appreciative off what they did for me. I was about of the housing program they provided to me as a teen mom. I completed training and classes that were very helpful to my sucess and they supported me in making good choices in life. I now have been sober for almost ten years!! The only thing I have to say that was very disappointing was that i tried to get involved with CYS as an adult and volunteer many different times and was denied to do so. I have no criminal history, or conflict of doing so. Wasn't even given the chance to fill out a form. :-(
