Mission: Lewa USA assists the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy (LWC) and other similarly oriented entities, to successfully perform their role as catalysts for community-centric conservation of wildlife and habitat in northern of Kenya.
Results: Expansion from 62,000 acres to 18 million acres under conservation management. 45% decrease in illegal elephant deaths from 2012 to 2015. More than 45 college graduates through the Lewa Education Program started in 2002.
Target demographics: organizations, including the Lewa wildlife Conservancy in Kenya, apply community conservation to protect endangered wildlife, their habitats and the people living with them who are thier best protectors.
Direct beneficiaries per year: 1/4 of Kenya's black rhinos; 1/3 of the world's Grevy's zebra, 6,500 children in school, 20,000 people seeking healthcare, 1,000 small businesses.
