This summer my two kids attended summer camp at the Hudson Boys and Girls Club. Both kids were hesitant to go and were anxious about trying new things. Every week the club has a dodgeball tournament with all of the kids together. They choose team names and team colors. My son did not want to play. He did not know how to play and told the staff he wouldn't play.
When I picked him up on that Monday, Mike Rugg told me it was his summer goal to get my son to play.
That night we decided to do a bucket list of new things to try at the club. My son decided to put the dodgeball tournament on his list. He signed up on Tuesday morning! The staff was so excited that he decided to participate.
The easy thing would be to not have him play in the tournament but I was so glad that they pushed him to try something new. His team won the tournament and he came home with the biggest smile on his face.
We are so happy to send the kids to the club and try new things. They had a great summer!
