Southern Mutual Help Association, Inc. has enjoyed an excellent partnership with Mennonite Disaster Service since 2006. MDS and its committed and skilled volunteers were invaluable in our work recovering over 1,000 homes, small businesses, and churches across coastal Louisiana following 2005's Hurricanes Katrina and Rita and 2008's Hurricanes Gustav and Ike. Strong, visionary leadership led to further partnership in the "New Iberia Experiment" through which MDS volunteers became involved in our work revitalizing the historic West End of New Iberia - a culturally important area of the City that has suffered from decades of disinvestment and neglect.

We consider Mennonite Disaster Service to be one of our most important and valuable partners. MDS and its volunteers have touched thousands of lives. What absolutely incredible folks!
