Causes: Environment, Environmental Education
Mission: To protect our treaty areas and to educate the tribal members and youth on current environmental issues. To develop leaders in the environmnental area for the next generation. To promote activism within our tribes and to empower tribal members on effecting change.
Programs: In fy 2017 the organization completed approximately 6 tribal environmental summits on the nez perce reservation at the clearwater river casino. These had movies, presenters and speakers from across the pacific northwest, the united states including alaska and canada. Total attendees ranged from 30 to 85 at these events. The organization has also been working on the nimiipuu canoe project which involves carving a dugout canoe with 35 4th and 5th graders coming to work on this every wednesday. The organization offers a canoe paddle making class along with the students and adults each week. Additional accomplishments include the expansion of activities the organization offers to include arts and crafts classes for tribal youth to develop and hone their skills in sketching, painting and woodworking. The organization also offers traditional activities such as drum making, beadwork, native plant education and planting of trees, and flowers and vegetables.
