Homes First

Homes First! has such a great need in our community. I took a tour of one of their homes and heard from their residents and was deeply moved. This organization is amazing!

I enjoyed the tour that I took of one of their homes. The staff and volunteers do an amazing job of creating affordable housing for our community!

Homes First! is a non profit that has helped to fill the affordable rental housing gap in Thurston county. It has stood the test of time. For nearly 25 years it has owned and leased homes to families that are struggling to afford rents, for those who are disabled and for those recovering from substance abuse. Their program works. They have housed nearly 3000 tenants in their 25 years.

I have been volunteer in different capacities over the last couple of years. It is a great organization that makes a positive difference in the community!

I volunteer at Homes First! by doing office work. Homes First! purchases a variety of houses, apartments or duplexes that may need some tender loving care. After rehabilitating them, Homes First! makes this housing available to low income individuals and families for low rent. They also work with non-profit organizations to provide housing to developmentally disabled individuals in the community and others needing help. I am proud to be able to help Homes First! with their contributions to people in need here in Thurston County, WA!

Homes First helps people get into homes that wouldn't otherwise be able to get or stay in their own place.

I just finished an 8 month term of service as an AmeriCorps*Vista at Homes First! and I am very impressed at how well Homes First! accomplishes their mission. I watched them put in a play set at a property with a single mother of 5 children, and also saw them make sure that people on fixed incomes weren't getting late fees on their rent because of the day of the month they got their check. Most importantly I watched them time and time again make sure that Homes First! tenants are living in safe affordable homes. Homes First! has truly been doing amazing work in Thurston County for 23 years with half of the staff and budget they need!! This is a top notch organization. I am going to continue on with the organization (hopefully as a board member *fingers crossed* application turned in)!

This organization is well managed. It accomplishes a lot to the benefit of the community with minimal staffing. There is a lot of enthusiasm and passion by staff in support of their mission.
