As a victim of military domestic violence I had a less than favorable experience with HH6. In order to access their resources a spouse must provide a Veteran’s Disability Benefits rating documents or proof of VA Caregiver program credentials/income. Or affiliation with National organizations I wasn’t aware of nor do I qualify for without my Veteran’s permission; like WWP
1. My husband’s DOD financial records are his intellectual property and not mine to access, that’s illegal 2. Not all Caregivers qualify for the VA’s Caregiver program, I didn’t even know it was in existence. 3. My husband took away my WWP benefits when I fled for my safety.
So now HH6 is denying me resources because A. I won’t or can’t provide them my husband’s DOD records/financial documents
B. I don’t fit VA criteria for financial compensation from the VA based on my Veteran’s disability rating
C. I was blocked by my Veteran from organizations that are Veteran-centric like Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) as a manipulative tool to continue to control me.

So, as it stands since I do not have financial documents that lead to financial reimbursement to HH6, I am denied the privilege needed to utilize HH6 resources. My bad... in a crisis, I didn’t have time to gather my husband’s financial records while fleeing for my safety, nor did I plan ahead and enroll in the prerequisite programs ahead of my assault.
Shame on me for not knowing any better.

I have seen HH6 grow from its inception and the work and care they do for all of their programs exceeds what I have seen from other non profits of their size. Healing Household 6 takes great care of the people who they help, guards their privacy with great vigilance, and the workers will spend sleepless nights addressing all angles of the problems in front of them. HH6 is sorely needed in the veteran caregiver community as there are very few non profits that help the spouse in this equation. Thank you for being there for all of us.

My husband was injured in Iraq during a mission in 2003. On March 23rd, 2003, he lost 18 Marines in an explosion. Since then we have donated all of our extra money to Healing Household 6, a nonprofit that assists caregivers and Widows of United States wounded warriors. As a wife to an injured veteran myself, I know first hand of the suffering these families endure after war. Loss of limbs, brain injuries, and ptsd make it impossible for these families to live normal prosperous lives. Many of these families suffer financial hardships due to the Veterans injuries. Some also suffer domestic violence at the hands of their veterans and need a away out. Healing Household 6 provides emergency assistance to those families looking for a hand up during the most impossible times.

This is a new (official start in 2015) non-profit organization that helps caregivers of wounded warriors.

It is unique, in that it is a "first" of its kind in terms of the population(s) it serves. There are endless amounts of organizations that help support veterans in general or wounded warriors, specifically; however, there are no non-profits, until now, that specifically address in their mission to assist and support caregivers of these veterans.

Now, of course, a person could search and find some that help "women", etc., but this one was designed and created with the caregivers of wounded warriors being the inspiration and foundation of its purpose.

I know a few caregivers (acquaintances) who have sought and gained assistance - both in general need and in emergent need. Healing Household 6 can provide assistance in several ways, but most importantly, they continue to serve their clients in any way needed after a resolution has been obtained.

I personally have not utilized this organization; I do not work for them ... but I am extremely proud of the women behind it and would volunteer to assist them in any way possible, should that need ever arise for them (I am acquaintances with a couple of the providers, just through Facebook).

Please check them out, like them on FB to follow them, and visit their website for more information!
