This is an amazing place doing amazing things. These animals are given a second chance at life and to find forever homes. This organization is run by faithful, hardworking volunteers who do anything it takes to care for animals society as forgoten about. You must keep in mind there is no paid staff here, they are there in the rain, in the snow and in the heat doing whatever is needed to keep this place operational. That means getting up in the middle of the night to feed and check on to not going away to devoting everyday to the enormous task of caring for animals with special needs properly. I am fortunate to have my stable beside this one and I see first hand twice a day the work being done there. Constant improvements are being made and upgrades are always being planned. Fundraising and community awareness is continual from bake sales at Wal-Mart to promotion and education at the Huntingdon County Fair.
I began volunteering at CVRS back in November of 2008 and am still an active volunteer today. Beth is extremely knowledgeable about what she does and is always happy to share that knowledge with others. She puts literally all that she has in making the animals that come to CVRS healthy and happy again so that they can either live their lives to the fullest at CVRS or find their forever home. No one believes in these animals more than Beth! I will continue to volunteer as long as I possibly can.
I have known Beth for a very long time and she has always been a total advocate for animal whether it be horses, dogs, pigs etc. She continues to be that voice for those animals that have been disposed by society. Beth does a great job and provides a great life for the animals that she rescues. I will also say that Beth's main concern has always been the welfare of the animals and spares nothing to keep them comfortable and happy.
As someone who's in the animal control and rescue field, and as a donor to this rescue, I can say with conviction that Cozee Valee provides a very valuable service to the equine community. They are trusted resource in helping elderly equines who are in need of more professional care, and help all unwanted who may be destined for a life of slaughter or inhumane treatment. Many animals have been served by this organization and without their intervention they would not have had a second chance at rehabilitation.

As a donor to several animal charities, I look for a few key things to ensure that my donations are going to an organization which uses them to the best benefit of the animals. I have supported Cozee Valee Rescue and Sanctuary for several years because:
1) They are transparent in their operations. There are routine updates and pictures of the facilities and horses, and Beth Hearn communicates routinely with the supporters/donors.
2) They are experts at what they do. Cozee Valee focuses its efforts on elderly horses with issues, many who would not survive without their expertise. These horses typically have many good years ahead of them with the right care.
3) They operate within their financial resources. Cozee Valee does not take in more horses/animals than they can reasonable support. They routinely hold fundraisers, as well as pinching every penny and making it count. And since some of those pennies came from me, this is very gratifying.
Cozee Valee is one of the best rescue nonprofits that I know.
As manager of a feed store, I have dealt with Beth and CVRS for many years, both personally and professionally. We have used Beth to do seminars on older horses and rescues. CVRS and Beth go above and beyond to educate people about caring for older horses. They take excellent care of the "unwanted" horses they have brought in. I have personally seen very malnurished horses come back to life thru this rescue. I would highly recommend them as a rescue or even as an education source in this area.
I have known Beth for years, and have supported her efforts through monthly donations. As a lifelong horsewoman, I can state she takes excellent care of her animals, knows her limits and does not over extend herself, and provides complete transparency in all her dealings. She is honest, ethical, compassionate, and well, basically everything a rescue should be. Beth provides excellent rehabilitation to all critters at her farm.
I go when time allows to help some at Cozee Valee and the volunteers and horses are amazing. The thing with rescue animals is they all have a very special story and Beth Hearn deals with them happy and sad. She does an amazing job and we all know even that sometimes isn't enough and then there's the hardship of losing a horse. Beth, I thank you for all you do...Cozee Valee is a wonderful place and the animals are well taken care of. Just can't possibly say enough about it.
I have been a monthly donor to Cozee Valee Rescue and Sanctuary for almost four years. I am greatly impressed with this organization and it's founder, Beth Hearn. Beth consistenly provides me with montly updates on the horse I sponsor, and she even takes the time to call me and send me pictures of the horse.
I also like the fact that she is actively involved in her own community. She attends expo's and fairs, educating the public about animal abuse/neglect and how to prevent it. She also acts as a resource for animals in her area by checking out possible abuse situations and even taking in the horse or other animal if she is able to.
She also works hard at fundraising in her community, by holding bake sales, candle sales, sandwich sales, and sales of t-shirts and hats. She just doesn't wait for people to give her donations - she does things herself to raise money for the rescue. And she also has a Board of Directors that is actively engaged with the mission of the rescue.
I have personally been involved in supporting horse rescues for the past four years, and CVRS is at the absolute top of my list of rescues I feel comfortable donating to. There are not many, as I do research before I give, and CVRS goes above and beyond my criteria for donating.
We need more trustworthy and transparent rescues like this - hats off to this one! Beth works very hard to both help and fundraise for her horses, and I appreciate what she does. It's not easy work, but she keeps at it.
So, 5 stars from me for this rescue; thank you Beth for all you do!
