Programs: Head start pre-school services are provided free of charge through a federal grant funded by the us department of health and human services. Services are provided to approximately 370 children during the school year. Additional funds are received through program enhancements provided by community support foundations such as the new mexico community foundation and the j. F. Maddox foundation through the spark initiative.

child care services are provided on a sliding scale fee. Over ninety percent (90%) of the families are economically disadvantaged and pay a minimal fee to absorb the daily operational costs. Grants are provided by the new mexico children, youth and families department. Child care services are provided to approximately 123 children.

the summer lunch program provides children with lunches at no cost during the summer months. The program is funded on a reimbursement basis by the us department of agriculture through the new mexico children, youth and families department. The reimbursements for the food program are used to pay for meals, supplies, salaries of operational staff and administrative costs incurred by the program. Meals are furnished to approximately 267 economically disadvantaged individuals throughout the summer.

the parent activity program provides funds to be used for the purchase of various supplies and other designated uses for the head start pre-school. The snmf health initiative task is to engage the family to seek preventive health care services for themselves and for their children, and to improve the overall health and well being of all family members. The spark project supports the transition to kindergarten and on-going school success by increasing family involvement, actively and effectively collaborating between public schools and early childhood programs, enhancing practices in early childhood education and elementary schools, and developing/implementing policies to strengthen early childhood education.
