Mission: Bergen County Court Appointed Special Advocates (BCCASA) is an independent, non-profit organization committed to advocating for the best interests of children in out-of-home placement under the jurisdiction of the NJ Family Court. BCCASA provides for a corps of trained volunteers who work to ensure that needed services and assistance are made available to children in placement while helping to move them toward safe and permanent homes.
Programs: The organization provides court-appointed volunteers to advocate for permanent homes for children. The organization is principally in the business of recruiting, training, and supervising volunteers who are appointed by a judge in family court to advocate for a child or family of children who are in foster care. This year, the organization served 202 children and utilized the services of 113 volunteers who donated 8,234 hours of their time to the organization's mission. Program services expenses and other expenses as presented here does not include $231,731 of donated volunteer services, administrative support services and materials; and $20,400 of donated office space and telephone usage.
