My daughter works with MHAEC and since she has began her journey with this amazing organization she has been able to help our family members who suffer from mental health illness or substance abuse disorders. I interned with Mental Health America of Eastern Carolina and fell in love with what this organization represents! The employees and board members are completely dedicated to helping individuals who suffer with mental illness or substance use and reducing the stigma associated with these individuals.

Collaboration is key for bringing stakeholders together to support a common mission. Pitt County Community Collaborative on MH & SA brings those stakeholders together in a variety of ways, from the criminal justice setting to the health setting. This is done in a very energetic and meaningful way. This spirit of collaboration benefits those we serve by developing innovative programming and sustainability.

This agency's staff is truly devoted to seeking out services to help individuals with mental health issues and/or substance abuse issues find their way back to normalcy in their lives. They are genuine, caring, and experienced professionals who have a wealth of resources in the community to link individuals and other agencies with. We need more agencies like them!

This nonprofit has been and continues to be an asset to the community of Pitt County and it's residents. Since being established it has offered many informational opportunities to citizens and also provided opportunities to providers to get together and share information. I look forward to seeing what the future holds for this organization.

This group is a community based organization that helps open up minds to what behavioral health patients and substance abuse patients face on a daily basis. They help coordinate services and even have peer support to help with the challenges of theses diseases.

As a summer intern at MHAEC, I have had the honor of seeing the impact made by MHAEC first hand. MHAEC goes above and beyond to meet the needs of the members of our community to assist in their time of needs. No matter the circumstance, MHAEC does whatever possible to give aid to all who need. Its been an honor to get to work with them!

MHAEC Is truly making a difference in Eastern Carolina. From advocacy work to peer navigation, to collaboration projects, to community education...they are standing in the gap for those dealing with mental illness and substance use and those that serve those who are facing mental health and substance concerns.

This organization has been instrumental in linking our patients with safe, effective case management services through their peer navigator program. In a time when not all patients have access to billable services, they genuinely try to put patients first and do what they can to improve their access to care and quality of life.
